That is the very reason we bought a home miles from the RR tracks. Even so the skullduggery of trains has on constant alert.
You have to understand there has been a lot and I do mean a lot of local opposition to Brightline. Even several county and municipal governments added their voices to this opposition. Many lawsuits were filed.
Brightline is a singularly bad idea foisted on us by the state and big money (Disney) interests. But honestly to try to make it out as though Brightline train is a tool of the devil is just idiotic.
Dear article author,

White man’s iron horse....heap bad medicine.
“Station armed guards with orders to shoot to kill those crossing at the wrong times.”
Same with the borders.
“Dumb ways to die”
“When I lived in a small town outside the Chicago area that had a set of train tracks, one friend was a local police officer who said that in 25 years on the force, he walked the tracks about 30 times pointing out body parts to the guys with the little bags used to clean up this kind of mess”
Saw one of those many years ago. Tongs and spatulas. I still saw missed parts a week or two later. Still in my head.
Excuse me for not grasping this, congresscritters.
The crossing gate goes down, the lights flash red, and there’s that bell sound at the crossing.
And it’s the railroad’s fault that people choose to ignore such warnings, which were indeed functioning at that time, and proceed to cross the tracks with the resulting consequences.
Oops, silly me! I forgot about the fundamental transformation that took place over eight years! Logic and reason are part of the white cisgender patriarchal oppression.
