Photographer Jassen Todorov snapped the aerial images of rivers, lakes and mountains to show a different angle to American life than skyscrapers and fast food outlets.

Some of the destinations that Mr Todorov has photographed from such a height include rock formations in Utah, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Tiny Islands in Florida and Yosemite National Park.

He said: 'I have been exploring the US from above for the past four years - I love flying and photographing remote locations - most of them are not accessible by any other means.'

Man made salt ponds? Not exactly a natural wonder. But the sunlight does get reflected in all sorts of cool colors.

Any Yes fans out there? Is this not straight out of the other-worldly Roger Dean album artwork from the Close to the Edge album?

I composed the following haikus at a Yes concert. They are the same in English and French.

Nous sommes du soleil
Les visages de les enfants
Le main de Dieu.

We are of the sun
The faces of the children
God's hand in us all.

"Ceterum censeo Islam esse delendam."

Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
