I had heard that Satchmo was a contraction of “satchel mouth” used as a descriptive term of endearment for the large size of Armstrong’s mouth.
LOL!! Just to be prepared - I binged each question and they have similar answers to those posted.
The Satchmo responses show both ‘big cheeks’ and ‘satchel mouth’.
