It is the smart suitcase that promises to end the hell of lost luggage. The CX-1 follows you around at speeds of up to 7mph. It has a built-in 'eye' which maps the owner's face.
Add in a 'homing' wristband which activates a built-in GPS tracker - and the case works like magic.
If you wander too far, it lets out a loud wail. Expected to cost £800, it is just one of the amazing gizmos unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vagas.

By the way, I'll be announcing a new Fine Arts video of Vincent Van Gogh paintings later today, done to Brahms Variations of a theme by Haydn - organized roughly chronologically if you enjoy Art History and like waking up with a bang.
I used to go to the CES in Chicago every June . If you are into tech they are a blast.
By the time I was into it, I had already left Chicago. DARN!
COMDEX for me. I was in one of the booths and we had a suite in one of the hotels. And yes, it was pretty cool.
This is targeted more at consumer electronics so probably even more fun.

Great. Something to look forward to at the airport. Screaming kids AND screaming luggage.
I remember when wearable electronics was the IT thing and, lo, fitbit! And then there was the TV screen that would roll up, and I just saw it on some ad. I like to imagine our ancestors walking through our homes with their jaws dropped.
I don’t think airlines would let those suitcases onboard since they are battery powered. Seems to me they would fall into the category of the hover boards that are banned.
I went to CES in both Las Vegas and Chicago (they had both winter and summer shows then) every year from about 1981 through 1990. I design exhibits and used to do a lot of tradeshow booths. We supervised the set up and dismantle. I worked on Sanyo, Fisher, and Samsung, plus many smaller firms too. I saw lots of future tech like CD players and HD televisions before they hit the stores. Lots of fun both in the convention centers and out on the town.
As an employee of Kenwood, then Pioneer, went almost every year from ‘81 to ‘14. First hi-def system from NHK, intro of CDs and DVDs, first smartphones ... all very exciting.
Haven’t gone in 3 years, last thing I followed was 3-D TV with no glasses. Curious how much progress has been made as of today.
Also back in the day a CES badge got you into the Adult Video exhibits at the old Sands hotel. Some very interesting moments there, to say the least.
zig
Ive been many times. They are interesting
The device I want is the automatic clothes folder
Oh really? I never went into that part of the show, no sir. Not me.
I would have liked to see my friend Gary Cherone playing with Joe Perry’s new project there.

Then one day they hunt you down on orders from Skynet...
#10 I bet you saw everything in 3-D.......
