While national anthem protests have slowed around the NFL, it has still dominated national conversation throughout this season.
So what if such protests namely kneeling were to surface at the Super Bowl?
Fred Gaudelli, the executive producer of the Super Bowl, told reporters Tuesday night that the network would indeed capture any kneeling at the game.
"It was a pretty big story in our country this fall, Gaudelli said Tuesday. The Super Bowl is a live event, just like Sunday Night Football. When youre covering a live event, youre covering whats happening.
So if there are players that choose to kneel, they will be shown live. I would say, probably since Thanksgiving, a lot of that has kind of disappated and died down. Its certainly possible it could happen again.
Of course, not all protests during the anthem have been broadcast, but the attention its gotten seems to warrant that it be televised at the biggest football event of the year.
The anthem protest conversation reached new heights following Donald Trump's comments and tweets demanding that teams remove any players who choose to kneel.
The league united following Trump's comments that owners must "get that son of a b---- off the field" if a player protests, and the President added fuel to the fire via Twitter in the proceeding weeks.
NFL violence should be more off-putting than anthem kneeling Buffalo Bills players take a knee during the playing of the national anthem prior to an NFL football game against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 24, 2017. The symbolic kneel comes two days after Trump's harsh comments on players who don't stand during "The Star-Spangled Banner." NFL player Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem last year as a way to peacefully protest police brutality against African Americans in America.
"Two dozen NFL players continue to kneel during the National Anthem, showing total disrespect to our Flag & Country. No leadership in NFL! Trump tweeted in October.
The country can probably count on Trump to fire up his Twitter account once again if there's any protests on Super Bowl Sunday.
“In your face America!” - The MFL
“The NFL is a con, nothing more. It is so far beyond obvious that the Refs are not there to ensure a fair contest, but to ensure the right team wins.”
It’s called sports entertainment.
I haven’t watched a single game for a year and a half.
The super bowl will not be an exception.
locked arms is not kneeling
The more, the less (viewer wise ;-)
locked arms is not kneeling
And of those watching, how many will immediately tune out? I know several people whose main reason for watching is the commercials, and really they just have to wait til the next day and they can probably see them all without having to pt up with overpaid, under educated muscle bound morons.
Sounds good. One more nail in the coffin. NBC and NFL must have a death wish.
Just don’t expect to see cheerleaders on tv, that’s sexist.
Just a distraction from Pretty boy brady letting air out of the balls.
The national anthem at NFL games is usually so butchered as to not be recognizable. Its like some cheap rap tune by some worthless, self anointed singer.
If Donald Trump was serious about his dislike of the NFL, why wont he tell the Defense Dept to stop supporting the NFL, particularly in the Super Bowl?
Good, because the NFL need all the nails it can accumulate to seal up it’s coffin.
Good, because the NFL need all the nails it can accumulate to seal up it’s coffin.
It’s still disrespectful. Do you lock arms when you hear the National Anthem? If not, why not?
The Vikings are anti-American thugs just like the rest of the NFL.
Go ahead...I dont plan to watch the No Fans Left super bowel, anyway.
