NBC executive says network will show national anthem kneeling at Super Bowl if it happens (tr)

While national anthem protests have slowed around the NFL, it has still dominated national conversation throughout this season.

So what if such protests — namely kneeling — were to surface at the Super Bowl?

Fred Gaudelli, the executive producer of the Super Bowl, told reporters Tuesday night that the network would indeed capture any kneeling at the game.

"It was a pretty big story in our country this fall,” Gaudelli said Tuesday. “The Super Bowl is a live event, just like ‘Sunday Night Football.’ When you’re covering a live event, you’re covering whats happening.

“So if there are players that choose to kneel, they will be shown live. I would say, probably since Thanksgiving, a lot of that has kind of disappated and died down. It’s certainly possible it could happen again.”

Of course, not all protests during the anthem have been broadcast, but the attention it’s gotten seems to warrant that it be televised at the biggest football event of the year.

The anthem protest conversation reached new heights following Donald Trump's comments and tweets demanding that teams remove any players who choose to kneel.

The league united following Trump's comments that owners must "get that son of a b---- off the field" if a player protests, and the President added fuel to the fire via Twitter in the proceeding weeks.

NFL violence should be more off-putting than anthem kneeling Buffalo Bills players take a knee during the playing of the national anthem prior to an NFL football game against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 24, 2017. The symbolic kneel comes two days after Trump's harsh comments on players who don't stand during "The Star-Spangled Banner." NFL player Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem last year as a way to peacefully protest police brutality against African Americans in America.

"Two dozen NFL players continue to kneel during the National Anthem, showing total disrespect to our Flag & Country. No leadership in NFL!” Trump tweeted in October.

The country can probably count on Trump to fire up his Twitter account once again if there's any protests on Super Bowl Sunday.

Did you forget that the Vikings locked arms in protest of the Anthem?

For reasons that mystify me, people are addicted to Super Bowl ads. Even people who don’t watch football—even people who proudly boast about never watching commercials—tune in just to watch the advertisements. I guess it’s fear of being left out of the discussion at work the next day. Sadly, these people will not be deterred by a little America hate.

NBC should show their true Quisling colors and kneel before every news broadcast.

Heck, now they put the ads on YouTube before the game, so what’s the point?

They have nothing to protest. If it was up to me, any who pulled this nonsense would be off the field and out of uniform.

Why does it matter? If you don’t watch the game you will get endless reruns for weeks after from the leftwing MSM and websites to make sure you know that the downtrodden negro millionaires got their message of ‘pay me’ across,

I hope they try it in MN Stadium.
It won’t go over well.

I plan on watching the pre-game and the game. The minute it gets political, the TV goes off and will never go on again. I already wrote off the Cowboys after Jones antics.

I’m just wondering what the odds are going to be regarding the over/under of kneeling players.

They (NBC) is sort of “cutting off their nose, to spite their face.”.

Remember when their advertising dollars were dependent on the size of their audience?

Now, they don’t seem to care about “audience”...and, obviously, neither do the advertisers.

Someone needs to tell them that “making a point” is null and void if there is no one there to SEE, and/or HEAR, the “point”.

If anyone has any doubt that the NFL point shaves via the refs to ensure the “right” team wins/keep the game exciting, after the last few seasons, they just live in denial.

The NFL is a con, nothing more. It is so far beyond obvious that the Ref’s are not there to ensure a fair contest, but to ensure the “right” team wins.

There are so many flagrant examples where Ref’s turned a blind eye, or over enforced a ticky tack foul to affect a game/keep it close etc.. that anyone who believes there is any integrity to the game, without all the political nonsense, is living in self denial.

Watching an NFL game is pretty much like watching a “reality” tv show based around what was once a sporting event.

Honestly, piss on professional and college sports. I like to attend high school basketball games where my kids go. Admission is 5 bucks and a soft drink and hot dog cost another 2 dollars. Everyone stands for the anthem and most place their hand over their heart.

That 600 dollars I was spending annually on season tickets at a certain state university? I think I’ll use that for vacation money.

Ho-hum. Trying to dredge up a reason for people to tune in to the annual NE Patriots’ championship game. (Can’t believe we used to host Super Bowl parties when the Cowboys were king in Texas.)

Vegas is setting 27-to-1 odds against the upcoming superbowl drawing a larger audience than last year's.

nflol!
