LG has developed a 65-inch OLED screen that can be rolled up like a newspaper.

In 2016, the firm announced the world’s first 18-inch rollable display at CES in Las Vegas – and now, they’ve more than tripled its size.

The incredible new flexible screen will be showcased alongside a staggering 88-inch 8K OLED display at the tech show this year.

>What I want is an OLED or equivalent that can be used as a computer monitor...

While I still drool for an OLED I’ve been using large flat screens for several years as my main monitor and have never experienced burn-in. Started at 32” went to 40” and am now computing on a 42” screen. Looks fine as a display and when I want to watch 4k HDR I switch over to streaming mode. Even without OLED or QLED the HDR gives a very close picture to those technologies and I only spent $400 out the door on a re-ferb.

One more thing about the future of this technology. What you’re looking at is a garden variety piece of plastic that has been inkjet printed with very exotic organic molecules. As those molecules are manufactured in mass quantities the price per unit drops dramatically. Four or five years from now that screen in the 120 inch version will cost in the neighborhood of a few dollars to produce and even with a generous markup will probably sell at a $300 to $500 price point with all the bells and whistles!

What a useless feature.

I can’t imagine any reason to have this beyond having such a small room that the TV inhibits movement. This must be for those “tiny houses” the Left is currently pushing.
