Mery Streep has backed Oprah Winfrey to run for President amid an outpouring of praise for her Golden Globes speech.
The actress said Oprah had 'launched a rocket' after the former talk show host accepted the Cecil B DeMille award at Sunday's Globes ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.
Fans praised the 63-year-old for delivering 'one of the greatest American speeches' while others urged her to make a run for President in 2020.
That sentiment was mirrored by Streep, 68, who said the businesswoman now 'doesn't have a choice'.
Streep, who walked the Golden Globes' red carpet hand-in-hand with justice activist Ai-jen Po, told The Washington Post: '[Oprah] launched a rocket tonight. I want her to run for president.
'I don't think she had any intention [of declaring]. But now she doesn't have a choice.'

It’s scary that Meryl Swordnose is almost exactly my age, and that she is losing her intelligence faster than a kid losing marbles.
I wish there was a daily I.Q. test I could take along with my daily blood sugar. It’s worrisome to think about.

Look at who Hillary's friends are. And she got more votes than DJT did. Even with a lot of blacks staying home. Guaranteed those blacks are not going to stay home if Oprah heads the ticket. Say what you want about Oprah, but she's not the vile, evil, corrupt criminal that Hillary is.
Yeah, that was among my first thoughts. Let’s see Oprah’s tax records for the last 10 years. Then, just try and imagine Oprah physically working hard, day after day, on the grubby campaign trail giving speeches every day and working the rope lines, again, every day.
Yeah, it’s all great once when your personal servants have attended to your every need and whim to then go out and give a flowery vapid speech... it’s another thing to work hard and connect directly with the masses for 18+ months.
It is eerie, isn’t it. We need to deliver a blow to Hollywood and academia and half the battle will be won.
The other half is up to us.
We live in a nearly Godless nation and this turn is our fault. We are paying the price that exactly fits the measure of our faith and spiritual neglect.
The Orpah and the 0bama’s have *much* in common.
