The way Ivanka just got the tax code expanded to cover the nannys and private schools of her wealthy Manhattan friends is an example of another such well-intended, poor outcome, effort.
At the bottom of it, they are politicians first, whose first priority is re-election.
It is why Trump’s approach is so...refreshing. Sure, he might run again in 2020, but one almost gets the impression he doesn’t really care about it one way or another yet.
He is a politician in a businessman’s sense, but not as much in the political sense, IMO.
