And the award for ultimate hypocrisy goes to . . . the Hollywood class of 2018.
This years Golden Globes were meant to be a defiant, vibrant celebration of a post-Weinstein industry, an awards ceremony about so much more than meaningless awards. We were promised a reckoning, the leveling of a male-dominated industry that institutionalized the rape, abuse and harassment of women for decades.
Like so much Hollywood product, advance buzz was greatly exaggerated. Not one actor or actress, on the red carpet or on stage, made direct reference to their industrys greatest monster the one they boast of slaying yet still want to appease.
Host Seth Meyers, in his opening monologue, was the only person in the room to mention him by name.
Harvey Weinstein cant be here tonight because, well, Ive heard rumors that hes crazy and difficult to work with, Meyers said. But dont worry hell be back in 20 years when he becomes the first person ever booed during the In Memoriam segment.
And how did these brave, crusading, black-garbed, pin-wearing celebrities respond? They booed.
Same when Meyers made a crack about the disgraced Kevin Spacey fumbling a Southern accent. Oh, is that too mean? Meyers asked incredulously. To Kevin Spacey?
Even a tame Woody Allen joke fell flat. It seems theres no sexual predator who still doesnt get Hollywoods sympathy.
Yet many of the nights honorees spoke like leaders of a revolution.
May we teach our children that speaking out without fear of retribution is our cultures new North Star, said Laura Dern. She, like several other stars, brought along other female activists, apparently to remind us that Hollywoods not the only cesspool.

>An executive at MGM exposed himself to Shirley Temple when she was underage. It goes back to the very beginning. Look at the types who came out of Vaudeville who first made Hollywood famous.
The Roman’s and Greeks gave actors and actresses the same status as street whores. Hollywood is no different.
Black ...the color of witches and demons.
How appropriate.
The words “I AM SPARTACUS!” is strictly a Dalton Trumbo addition to Howard Fast’s novel. It, and the Tony Curtis character are not in the book.
I’ve read the book and find I prefer THE GLADIATORS by Arthur Koestler.
Nothing shows heartfelt solidarity with women abused as sex objects like a $20,000
teaser gown that barely keeps your own golden globes from flopping out in public.

Very well said. It does seem that way. After all this, things go back to normal because doing they don’t know any other way. The actresses aren’t paid to think, they’re paid to speak lines. If this is the end result, a lot of them owe Weinstein an apology.
I hope so. I hate the evil ones who pretend to be good in Hollywood. Sorry, I mean it, I hate them. Like the Meryls and Sarandons who went through the gauntlet and KNEW DAMN WELL and now they pretend they didnt know and pretend they didnt ASSIST THE RAPISTS. Hating evil is to me a good thing.
Next, I am profoundly embarrassed and sad for all the rest. They are your average, busy, gullible Americans, who happen to be in show biz and have achieved some fame, and want DESPERATELY to be in the in crowd. They seek approval and love. They learn how they are supposed to believe and do so accordingly.
I hope the powers that be that uncover the sick collusion of the industry really affect it. I pray there is a power of good, re Q, that can uproot evil, everywhere, but not sure its possible.
It’s just more hip symbolism - like Teddy Bears, flowers, and candlelight vigils.
This “#Me too” and “Time’s up” will remain the heights of hypocrisy until these lib/fems yell “Time’s up!” to the Muslim world to start treating their women like human beings. Their tartuffery must be another kinky fetish.
