AMD is completely unaffected by the Meltdown concern.

No media source has said otherwise. AMD also came out and said it’s impossible for any of their processors to have this concern. Probably because AMD takes a safer approach that is often times slower, but robust.

the word “impossible” turns people on in IT.

The only reason I have an AMD PC is because I then don’t have to use my space heater.

AMD isn’t affected by Meltdown, but is by the Spectre bug.

I wish the news media would quit combining the Meltdown and Spectre malware as if they were the same vulnerabilities. They aren't. Meltdown is the only one that attacks the 64 bit Intel processors sold for the last decade or so. Spectre attacks devices made with ALL Intel processors regardless of vintage or bit level, AMD processors, and ARM processors. . . just with a different vector of attack and modality of vulnerability. This makes for confusion among the public as to which and what is affected by which malware. The headlines don't help at all.
