A Journey into the Dark Side... Part 1
I came upon the YouTube series Good Game and watched the first episode.
I decided to check out one of the creators, Michele Morrow, IMDb, FB, and Twitter
with the intention of doing a review of it for you folks.
While on her FB page I noticed a post she made referencing last year's 'women's march'...
I light-heartedly shared this year's message from Trump...
Beautiful weather all over our great country, a perfect day for all Women to March.
Get out there now to celebrate the historic milestones and unprecedented economic success
and wealth creation that has taken place over the last 12 months. Lowest female unemployment in 18 years! Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 20, 2018
Well, all hell broke loose...
I was immediately banned and she made the following comment...
"FYI: you post about Trump and spread his crap, I will ban you.
Trump is Hitler reincarnated. This is my fan page, not a discussion page.
If you want a discussion, go to a discussion forum or create your own fan page.
I will not tolerate Nazis, racists, sexists, homophobes, AT ALL. Youve been warned. This is my page, and I'll make whatever statements I want. If you dont like them, you can leave.
I dont care for Trump supporters and I wont have them near me.
Tolerance for idiocy is what got us Trump. I wont tolerate it anymore.
Hes far worse than ANY alternative. And if you dont agree with that - leave.
This resulted in a few folks saying bye-bye and leaving on their own accord while others that refused to toe the line were booted.
What made this all the more head-shaking was that in the heading to the photo of herself at last years march,
she quoted George Washington's advice to,
"indignantly frown(ing) upon the first dawning of every attempt to alienate any portion of our Country from the rest."
I went to Twitter, posted her quote of Washington and added...
"Respectfully suggest you listen to the advice of G. Washington posted here and on your FB page.
Your intolerance and hatred runs counter to that message."To which she replied...
" I wont support Nazis.
I have no tolerance for people who continue to support trump, as he is everything Nazis believed in.
I have no time for you if you are siding with Nazis."To which I responded,
Calling all Trump supporters Nazis goes even beyond bigotry and borders upon lunacy. Get a grip.
Geez, I came to your page because I was intending to promote Good Game on a major website
and I'm totally taken aback by your hatred and bigotry. I don't want to be angry at you.
There is enough division and hatred in the US without adding more. I strive to unite not divide.
Your anger is not healthy for you. Get your emotions in balance with your ability to think rationally.
Disagree without being Disagreeable
and wished her a Good Evening.
As far as Good Game goes all I am inclined to say is...
It was somewhat amusing although seemed like the derivative poorer cousin of The Guild
but without the loveable characters (perhaps a reflection on one of its creators).
The first episode is free on YouTube, following episodes available on YouTube Red.
Personally, I won't be paying money to see the remaining episodes.

I was in the city about a month ago trying to track down a WoW calendar for this year.
On my way to EB Games, I noticed my search had also come up with a place called Gamezilla
that was along the way so I decided to stop and check it out.
Turned out it had very little video games and a lot of board games.
The counter guy was very friendly and helpful and we talked at length.
I was able to ask and learn a bit about board gaming.
He said it was quite popular in the area and they held the team games in the store.
Now, I'm thinking, I'm new to this part of the country, just moved here last March
and this might be an excellent way to meet people and make some friends.
I think once spring comes and I can count on the weather (I live out in the boonies)
I'll come into the city, try to find someone that will take me under their wing
and help me learn about board gaming.
Here is a link to the store. I tested it out and it appears to work.
You can up/down scroll the sidebar on left to see photos of the store
and people set up on tables playing and looking pretty intense.
Let me know if it works for you...
Danielle Mackey, better known as Panser
of the video blog TradeChat (470K subscribers)
and also found on Twitter and FaceBook
She does, among other things, weekly WoW updates
and recurring posts of 39 things about... new patches and other topics.
She is a frequent interviewer at Cons.
She had her own encounter with Dark Side scum dwellers recently.
I'll let her explain it.
She is, for what will quickly become apparent good reason, very upset.
Not just by the Dark Side scum but also her treatment by Twitter.
Adult content and some of the language she uses is not SFW.
I GOT SUSPENDED FROM TWITTER!!!! | Tide Pods are VERY serious, ok?
The third and final story happened on Nov.8th 2017
It involves Nerdphilia
Her real name is Rebecka but as she says everyone calls her Nerdy. She has 73K YT followers.
She streams, builds computers, goes to conventions, shares the spotlight with Pixel and gets some sponsorship from ASUS and funding from her fans.
She's one those the Good Lord has blessed us with... a carrier of infectious happiness.
I'm sure she has her moments as we all do
but her default position is one of positivity and happiness...a Joie De Vivre
This video gives a good idea her personality.
She has a quality of innocence that makes one want to protect her.
...but she lives in Stockholm... in Sweden
and on Nov.8th 2007 the foolishness of Sweden's elite claimed a portion of her innocence...
'Hasborg' had me stumped for a while until I checked the bottom
of the Avalon Hill homepage and saw 'a subsidiary of Hasbro'
Was that a typo or an intentional dig as Hasbro for screwing up the game in some way?
Avalon Hill games are now being managed by the Hasbro subsidiary Wizards of the Coast. The Avalon Hill section is found here: Avalon Hill Games.
For some titles, they remade the components, but kept the spirit of the games (Acquire, Merchant of Venus, Axis and Allies, etc.). But most of the catalog is tied up in rights... basically it would cost more in lawyer fees to resolve who owns what than Hasbro would make in selling or licensing rights, or reprinting titles. So they just languish.
Avalon Hill was originally owned by Monarch Publishing, so they had their own printing facilities and dies for the boards and pieces. By the late 1990s, the market for deep war/conflict simulation games had waned, and was being replaced my simpler, more appealing "Euro" style games, so Avalon Hill became a dinosaur.
At the time of its heyday, it's main competitors were Simulations Publications, Inc. (SPI), Victory Games, Yaquinto, and some smaller companies.
Here are some more older, targeted websites that have more legacy content on the Avalon Hill/SPI era of games. These two sites are frequented by the "old-timers" who started playing these games when they were first published in the 1970s.

May be delay in posting February thread.
Was just about ready to when the power went off. Only light snow and no wind so not sure what caused it. Will check power company website with phone and see if they have any info posted.
