“Coldest in my life was in MN, -40. I honestly don’t know how people live in with that for an entire winter.”

It’s been -40 actual temp many times where I live. You just get used to it. Bundle up with multi-layers of loose clothing. It’s amazing what you can do and how long you can do it if properly dressed. As a kid I did oil field construction work in this kind of weather out in the middle of nowhere.

My favorite story is we bought a new 2007 Chevy pickup. One -40 day I grabbed the plastic door handle, and it just broke in two. The grease in the door latch froze the latch mechanism so the door would not stay shut. We drove through a small snow bank and broke the plastic grille. Never buy another Chevy again because of the cheap plastic they use.

It's brutal. My only advice is ..................don't............

....Even if you are tempted.

“At temps like that in Texas I’m sure there will be a lot of broken water pipes.”

It was -26 here yesterday. Our main water line is froze, now water now for a day. It just makes life more challenging.

Can’t afford to move elsewhere! (Currently -30°C (-22°F) here, with -40 wind chill.) Friends in small town in Panama complain about how ‘cold’ is is there (24°C, or 75°F). Somehow, my heart does not bleed for their predicament.

It’s 55 degrees in NE Florida right now. -24 in my MN home town. What’s that, like a 79 degree delta? (I like it where I am, thanks.)

Right now, here it is 13 degrees. People are screaming about Glo-bull Warming causing it.

This day in 1969, here it was “0” degrees. No one blamed “the greenhouse effect, glo-bull warming or Climate change.” It was just a brutal cold winter.

A few years ago i took the Cog Railway up Mount Washington.
At the base of the mountain it was a very nice 80ish summer/fall day.
By the time we made it to the top it was like being on the planet Mars with whipping cold wind.

Cog Railway was frigging awesome i would recommend it to everybody.
Very pricey though.

I watched that show and clenched my teeth the whole time. The consensus was that Trump is a fluke and a one-term president. They also believe that the NYT has proven to be good journalism because it doubled it’s paper circulation in 2017.

The show repeats today and tomorrow at various times on BBC America if anyone wants to see an example o how we are being represented overseas.
