[history]
Bono has said that music has gotten very girly in recent years, with hip-hop serving as the only place for young male anger at the moment.
The U2 frontman voiced the opinion during a new interview, with the 57-year-old lamenting the lack of young male anger in rock music in 2017.

I love it.
Lars with a beard is a dead ringer for one of the guys in my motorcycle group.

Stevie Ray Vaughan had a lot to do with the quality and success of "Lets Dance" as well.
It's an excellent album. I have not listened to it in years. Maybe I'll remedy that tonight.

Do you remember ‘Popsicles, Icicles’?
Part of the lyrics went ...
Bright stars and guitars and
Drive-ins on Friday night
These are a few of the things we love
They slurred ‘guitars and’ together
and, I’ve believed ever since, gave
Ray Stevens the inspiration for Guitarzan.

Well, we'll just have to disagree. IMO, Maybelline is a classic example of Chuck Berry's winning spirit. He takes an old blues trope (why can't you be true), and turns it into an action-packed road race that he assures us at the start he is going to win, and does.
Nice chattin' with ya.

Thanks, I will do so. The most "recent" music I've heard lately is by Tame Impala, recommended by a younger co-worker. It's not terrible, but not really rock, and there are only so many times I can go back to Black Flag.

Black Flag?
Well now, Blackberry Smoke and the Heathens are not punk, but they are, in my opinion, genuine rock-n-roll.

Yes I do, guitar god, one of my all time favorites by far.

Was watching a documentary on the history of the electric guitar on Netflix recently. Guitar virtuosity is going to be a very rare thing in the future.
I was also struck by the huge investment by today’s musicians in guitars made in the 50’s. I was vaguely aware of this, but I thought it was merely an urge to collect. Apparently these old instruments have very rich tonal qualities not reproduced since.

The A&R guy from Decca who turned down the Beatles in 1960 did so by telling their manager, Brian Epstein, that “guitar bands are over.” Just sayin’. :-)

Can’t believe he reduced music to only two genders. Libiots will have his head.

You know Bono, that’s what I thought the first time I heard U2.
