Trump colluded with the arborists this time.

I am no “tree lover”, but I do appreciate looking at an elderly tree, and imagining the history it has lived through.

There was a an enormous, fat, decaying maple tree around here that was 350 year old, and it just finally died. You couldn’t stand in front of it and not realize it had been a sapling long before the American Revolution.

But everything does have its time.

CNN expresses more concern for the limbs of this tree than the limbs of babies chopped up for parts and sold to the highest bidder.

Magnolias are notoriously fragile; a tree that old is in danger of losing major limbs if they get a particularly nasty ice storm, resulting in damage to the building. Hopefully the replacement will be sited far enough away that it won’t pose a threat in the future.

“had a long and storied life, yet has now been deemed too damaged and decayed to remain in place.”

Could describe quite a few politicians!!!

Experienced, skilled, aborists (not sure what tree specialists are called) will either believe that the tree can be saved or that it cannot.

I would pay a boatload of money for one of the cloned trees that they don’t use.

Magnolias are a pain...dropping leaves and those little hand grenades all year long. Yes...their blooms are big & fragrant. But, if I wanted fragrance, I’d buy one of those little car air fresheners that hang on the mirror.

I hate crepe myrtles too. They’re nothing but weeds.

Good move President Trump.

I saw several posts this morning blaming Melania and saying she asked for it to be removed. The pictures I saw showed the trunk on at least one of the two main branches has rotted away but somehow she is to blame.

I’ve always hated that tree. Thank God we finally have a President with the gumption to do what has to be done!

Trees don’t live forever, the arborist said it was time for this one, and they have to take it out before it falls on the WH. I manage an historic site and this, unfortunately, something that you have to do from time to time.

The tree was planted by Andrew Jackson, or at his behest. It is a racist tree and should have been removed long ago.

After a brutal presidential campaign in 1828, Andrew Jackson's wife, Rachel, died just days after his election; according to historians, Jackson believed the particularly divisive campaign contributed to his wife's untimely demise. When he took up residence in the White House as a widower following his inauguration, it is believed Jackson insisted on planting a sprout from Rachel's favorite magnolia tree from the couple's farm, Hermitage, in Tennessee.

So use a tomahawk when you chop it down.
