The joys of hyponatremia would be one outcome.

Being dead ain’t much of diet.

Could probably write a book called “The Jesus Diet”, telling people to go sit in the desert for 40 days and nights with only water. I bet I’d sell a million copies. Would need a hell of a lawyer to write the fine print disclaimer though.

Anything to extremes is bad. But given the record of ‘nutritionists’, I would take them as seriously as I take today’s school teachers - which is not at all.

Anyone healthy can fast (water only) for a week easy, some sites say up to 20 days, but I’ve never tried that many (my highest is 10 days). If humans dropped dead after skipping a few meals, we would have never made it out of caves - obviously our bodies know how to operate just off fat, and just fine that way.

Overall, the ‘nutritionists’ are just doubling down on their abject failures, no different than school teachers that keep pushing “whole language” (now repackaged as ‘site words’), or Common Core Math (I think most of us have now seen that disaster). Pretty much human nature to never admit you’re wrong in something you do for a living. Annoying, but human nature - run into it here once in a while too.

There are no documented cases of people dying from water fasting.

Water fasting combined with binge-purging is just binge-purging.

There is lots of documented, clinical evidence of alternate-day fasting improving health.

BBC Documentary: Eat, Fast and Live Longer

A three-day water fast stimulates the production of more stem cells than you get in a $10,000 stem cell therapy session, plus according to clinical study it buffers the side-effects of chemotherapy.

Fasting triggers stem cell regeneration of damaged, old immune system

The human body evolved to go through periods of feast and famine.

“Eating disorder expert” Joanne Labiner is an idiot.

The human body will ALWAYS consume fat first. It does not metabolize the body’e muscle until all the fat is gone.

Eat meat, even fatty meat. Bacon, eggs...hell, have a little ice cream on the weekend. Eat vegetables as well. Exercise or do physical work ever day. Go for a walk at least. Every day.

There's your diet.

I did this a few months ago for 72 hours - water, bone meal, black coffee. I think one thing I definitely felt is that my body became stronger and my liver detoxed.

This woman is an idiot
Nearly every ancient culture talks of fasting one day per week
It’s in the Bible the Dead Sea scrolls and on and on
Buddha fasted for 40 days until he reached enlightenment
It’s good for the body soul and spirit
Ghandi said “ hunger is my power “
Overeating is the number one cause of unhealthy living. By far
In America of course
Bottom line
Don’t ever listen to so called health experts

The process of ketosis is one of the physiological effects of fasting in which the brain (and some other bodily processes) uses ketones produced from fatty tissues as a fuel instead of the usual glucose. This is called “muscle sparing”.
When glucose isn’t readily available via the diet (in the form of carbohydrates) and the glycogen stores in the liver become depleted, the body could break down muscle to get it. But ketosis is an adaptation that will spare muscle during times of shortage by instead breaking down fat stores and manufacturing ketones for brain fuel. It is said this state is attained at approximately 48 hours of a water fast for women and closer to 72 hours for men.

They already have a name for a water only diet, it’s called starvation.

I remember hearing about a woman who died after winning a radio contest for binge drinking water.

There’s been a bunch of studied cases of people who lost weight by not eating at all 6+ months. As long as you get electrolytes and vitamins it’s safe. If you don’t, then you will screw your organs up. I wouldn’t do it long term without working with a doctor.

Honestly, if you want to lose weight quickly there are 2 pretty good options: Intermediate fasting (only consume food in 1 or 2 meals a day, no snacking) and a low carb diet like Keto.
