Heather Menzies-Urich, who played Louisa Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, has died aged 68.

Her death was announced by the estate of the musical's creators, Rodgers & Hammerstein, on Monday.

She was diagnosed with brain cancer four weeks ago and died on Christmas Eve, news site TMZ quoted her son Ryan as saying.

"She was an actress, a ballerina and loved living her life to the fullest," he told TMZ.

Born Heather Menzies in Toronto, she was 15 when the musical film was released in 1965. It went on to win 10 Oscars, including best picture.

She played the mischievous third Von Trapp child Louisa, but her later television and film appearances did not hit the same heights.

At 23, she posed nude for Playboy magazine under the headline The Tender Trapp, a decision she said horrified her Presbyterian parents, who were originally from Scotland.

Her death comes 14 months after that of Charmian Carr, who played the eldest Von Trapp daughter Liesl.

Possibly the only thing that would make it work is if insurance was put on the free market, but then like you said the lawsuits would drive up costs anyway because doctors have to pay a fortune in liability insurance, some of them like obstetricians pay $300,000 a year. The lawsuit situation would have to be taken care of. The way I look at it is like cars and car insurance. Why can’t it be run like that? If a mechanic messes up your car you aren’t awarded millions in compensation, the lawsuits are ridiculous. Like Ann Coulter always said, “Why is ambulance chaser John Edwards making more money than doctors?”

I really do not know the answer to it, but healthcare in this country is really effed up big time. I went to dentist 2 months ago, I found him on the net and he got good reviews or so I thought. So I went there for a check up, they cleaned my teeth, took X-rays and charged me $295, and then the doctor comes in and tells me I need all this work done and that it would come to about $9000 total, then he had me fill out this form for a dental loan company and he told me I could be approved by fax, he comes back 10 minutes later and tells me I’m approved and he can work right away so I was like hell no, let me think about this.

I call the next day telling them I’m going to hold off. A week later I get a letter in the mail telling me I was NOT approved for the loan. So basically the mofo lied to me, I would have been in debt towards him for thousands. RIGHT AWAY this guy was ALL about money! F the patient, let’s get as much money as possible from him.

“I do the same, but one of my little “mental hobbies” is keeping alive the memory of Helen Hagnes Mintiks...”

I remember that case. I know Craig S. Crimmins whined about not getting paroled over the years: https://citylimits.org/2014/09/17/even-model-nys-inmates-face-steep-barriers-to-parole/

Thanks for that.

I know Craig S. Crimmins whined about not getting paroled over the years...

Yeah, and Helen never jumped out of her grave with her violin and union card either.

I spent last Christmas with my sisters et al., never realizing that one would be diagnosed in April with leukemia and gone in September. It gives one such a different lens.

“”She and her husband, the late actor Robert Urich””

I never followed her career but was certainly very fond of her husband..loved him in the Spenser for Hire series...Excellent actor. Both were much too young to leave us...

Your life is not the same as a mechanic messing up your car, that is why its diferent, you could be dead or in permanent pain and disability forever. Your car is external to your bodys physical health and condition.
