A school teacher from Washington, DC has accused United Airlines of evicting her from her first-class seat and giving it to senior Democratic congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

If the insufferable old cow didn’t have a first class seat booked then she’s not entitled to one no matter how much she bellows and stomps. Simple as that. Miz Jackson-Lee needs to develop a future orientation to anticipate her needs, but seems incapable of doing so.
United will be the very last airline I pick to fly. I honestly don’t know how they’re still in business.

It was a connecting flight leg on an international flight from Guatemala so she had a valid, uncanceled ticket when she left Guatemala a few hours earlier and then it was canceled while she was in the air
And then she finds out that Sheila Jackson Lee had her seat, which by the way, is in Sheila Jackson Lee's preferred seat in 1st class, 1A - the closest seat to the door. Have to make sure the Queen is first person off the plane and not inconvenienced
Lee has gotten caught enough doing this that a pattern is emerging, even down to the preferred seating arrangements

My first thought is how a “school” teacher can afford a first class airline seat?
Are taxpayers really paying such enormous bloated salaries these days? I know the answer.
The article does not say where the money came from for this ticket. Her primary prefession may be as a teacher however she might have other investments and whatnot that is none of your business.
Now if she was a public government employee for some federal government deaprtment I would agree with you that compared to the private sector that they are way over paid. However, doing a search of national teacher’s salaries they make less than you would think. Especially when local cost of living is taken into account. A brand new teacher iis lucky enough to make 35K gross. In 1987 a starting teacher’s salary was no more than 25K gross. Teacher salaries have not increased all that much in that time. Who knows what else this teacher does. To say ALL teachers are over paid is a misnomer. Now when you talk about building administration staff and the likes, yes high 6 figure salaries do detract from the this. However this articles states she is a teacher not administration so the fact she saved money to buy a first class ticket is her choice not yours. The article also states this is a second leg of her trip home and does not state her origination. Get over yourself, a teacher and what they make is the least of everyone’s problems in education. You probably think a teacher should make 2 dollars right?
As anyone who has flown before knows....1st class seats are booked way in advance.

Speed is good but not necessary.
It is really funny that she “cancels” her seat, and who ends up sitting in it. My my my my my.... What a coincidence. Life works in the strangest ways [eye roll].

I’d like to know how a member of Congress can afford it considering they complain about needing a raise.
Frequent flyers sometimes use their miles to upgrade to first class, I’ve done it before if I’m too stressed out to deal with being crammed in coach, or if I have to fly and don’t really feel up to it. Did it once coming back from a national sales meeting in Minneapolis, those people can drink up there. I was totally whupped with a hangover and in no shape to fly, so I wanted to be babied and have access to liquids rather than waiting on the little cart to roll through.
