Anytime I happen to glance at headlines in the NYT, I am tempted to adopt a misanthropic lifestyle.

The one, who campaigned on “HOPE”
Nearly changed me into a misanthrope.
Turns out he was much more than just a dope.
More than a boob who couldn’t cope.
When he trotted out his socialist trope,
As his minions did their dirty grope.
But then one day, The USA said “Nope”

So, rather than sit around and mope,
He flies around, thinks he’s the pope!
Day, by day, the books will ope’
And show us WHAT he meant by “HOPE”

Soon it will be revealed, the scope,
Of how he propelled us down the slippery slope.
He’ll hoist himself! And supply his own rope.

And, once again we live in hope,
And I’m no longer a misanthrope!

They wouldn’t be trying so hard
Forcing section 8 on your street
But not in their fancy backyard...
