(Vanity) Guidance needed: No medical insurance
December 17, 2017 | me

I need Freeper advice because when I left California to go to the Ukraine I sold my home and gave up my permanent US address. In doing so I lost Kaiser Health Insurance -- it was necessary. Now after 4 years I'm returning and need to get some coverage because I have nothing, zip -- not even Medicare. I'm 67, single, and could afford $750/month. Any ideas would be welcome.

“”Yours may be more complicated because you worked outside the country, but it will get straightened out.””

He not only lived/worked outside the country, he already said he wasn’t a US citizen. Didn’t say where he is a citizen.

Note he said he went to THE Ukraine. I don’t know if that’s anything like going to THE Russia, or THE France....

Never understood why THE is added to that particular country!

“”If you are 67 sign up for Medicare advantage. Its $105 a month. Aetna has great coverage.””

Aetna Medicare Advantage also has ZERO premium plans. My husband and I have had them for years.

“”Now, there is the Advantage plans, but a lot of Medicare doctors are not on the various Advantage plans””

Have never had anything but Medicare Advantage plans and never chose a plan that our preferred doctors weren’t enrolled in. My husband and I were both eligible for SS at 65, didn’t retire until we were 70 and have always had MA plans...Have never had any problems. My husband has been hospitalized 5 times in the past 11 years and not a ripple in coverage or claims. Had a problem one year when I switched from PPO to HMO figuring we already had all the specialists we needed in our lives when he fell and broke a shoulder and guess what? Had to find an orthopedic surgeon in network....Never made that mistake again.
