I’ve been trying to remember the event, circumstance, that caused the regulation of sexual harassment in the workplace that began in the 1970’s. I was hoping I could get some help remembering what happened that caused the scheduled sexual harassment education requirements major business HR departments must comply with since that time.

I’ve been retired awhile now, or I’d have asked around at HR, but I’d bet nobody knows the origins of the law.

I believe something such as what we are seeing today must have occurred back then, and of course about the time the regulation/law became would have been BIG Government Carter days IIRC.

I don’t remember, and am asking for help if anybody else does remember.

Type “LBJ” into your search engine, go to the wikipedia entry, then browse thru LBJ’s legislation, looking in particular at the Civil Rights Act of 1968. You might find what you’re looking for there.

It was an offshoot from the failed Equal Rights Amendment would be my guess.
