It must have settled in many centuries ago.................
Come to think of it, and I’ve thought about this decades ago when I first learned about it, that whole building must have been a risk.
The heat from occupancy must have been interesting. Get a few dozen people in there walking around, and the wooden supports must have built up a lot of heat. And the nails ? It had to be screwed together and propped up over the decades.
I would think it would be settling forever, basically. And again the heat in the wood on the lower supports from the stresses should have been something to calculate.
