Yes, a lot of his ‘tongue twisters’ were in fact true — he just had an earthy way of relating it.
I like the one 15 or 20 miles depending on what time it is.
Or one I heard years ago and some young lady used it during a gas surge few years ago.

She proceeded to tell him that when she first started working her father told her she never needed to put more than 10 dollars worth in her car as she lived close to work and did little running around.
To her the 10 dollars constituted a ‘fill up’ and as the price of gas went up......etc etc etc...
The ‘brain’ still didn’t get it and she did a pretty good job of rolling her eyes.
I know a 60 yo man who never puts more than $25.00 worth of gas in his car. One day he was running out of gas and wondered why. I did quietly mention the current gas price at the time... $3.97.
