Apu seems to be one of the smartest and most likable characters on the show. Can’t be having that.
Thank goodness that no other groups are mocked or stereotyped on The Simpsons. (extreme sarcasm)
The creators of The Simpsons blinked. Now the race hustlers know they’re weak and will come to the negotiating table. South Park’s Trey and Matt would never grovel like that, see Token Black.
...they should make sure that Abu only does business with Indian Owned Banks,Businesses, and have
relatives that overstay their visas
Has Hari Kondabulu had a hit TV show for almost 30 years? No??
Then Hari should have a Slushy and a smile and go STFU!!
> The Simpsons Team Considering How to Handle Apu Backlash <
Easy solution. Tell anyone who doesn’t like the Apu character to watch something else. You don’t like opera, don’t watch opera. You don’t like Apu, don’t watch Apu.
Pretty simple, actually.
They should consider telling the prig commissars of the Left to take a long walk on a short pier, to STHU and sit down. Every character on the Simpsons is a stereotype, most especially Homer Simpson. Apu is generally a great guy.
The Left has just about ruined comedy. Jerry Seinfeld wont play a college campus because of them, which should tell you all you need to know.
Much Apu about nothing.
Simpsons makes fun of everyone. No one’s feelings are spared.
Apu is one of the few not regularly ridiculed.
But the politically correct know how to threaten.
In writing characters you only have two choices, you can play with the stereotype, the kindly priest, or against it, the priest is a demon. If you look at what makes a character memorable, they are quirky. In a thirty minute episode, each character only has a few seconds on the screen. You can’t have a rich, fully fleshed, lovable character developed in that time. The viewer therefore has to fill in much of the character’s background from the viewer’s background. We’ve all met the fat, lazy public servant. So, they make the cop fat and lazy and then, in his few seconds, when fireworks are exploding all around him, he says, “Nothing to see here. Move along.” You can’t have him rushing everybody to safety, which a real cop might do. That’s not funny. It’s not entertaining. In the end, it’s about entertainment. Let’s say they make Apu a wonderful, selfless man who strives to improve the world all while being “diverse.” Oh, and they have to take away his stereotypical accent and make him sound like Thurston Howell the Third. After a few hours of trying to write a funny line they’d probably delete his character from the script.
Did they interview Joe Biden ???
When political correctness prevails, comedy is over.
That’s it. I’m only dating other White people to avoid this crap being thrown at me.
The Simpsons jumped the shark with the election of GW Bush and even more when writer John Swartzwelder left. Its now s left wing show. The first 10-15 years it was take no prisoners. Its time to turn the lights out.
This show has been on the air for almost 30 years. The voice actors are what? Pushing 70 now? It’s time to let it go.
Have Apu run against Quimby for Mayor of Springfield and win in a surprise victory but Kent Brockman and Quimby conspire to make allegations of collusion between Fat Tony and Apu’s campaign. Eventually, Apu is vindicated as all of Springfield celebrates. Brockman and Quimby are run out of town but find refuge in Shelbyville, while Fat Tony tries to clear his name with the help of Mr. Burns...(to be continued)...The Simpsons return from their vacation in Northern Michigan, but they need time to adjust to the “New Springfield”.
Q: How do you kill a TV cartoon comedy that has been o the air for almost 30 years?
A: Apply political correctness.
Apu!

About a decade ago someone in Chicago got their panties in a wad over Apu. One of the hosts on WLS started a conversation about it. The Indian population was calling in in droves saying they liked the part and that he did them a service by humanizing them for people unfamiliar with their culture.
