For users right now, a server side fix has already been put in place so that no bad guys can unlock your doors while you still can, although some functions have been disabled until a full fix is rolled out next week.

IOS HomeKit has a demonstrated Zero Day vulnerability which, although very difficult to duplicate, could allow a bad guy to unlock user's of smart devices including door locks and smart garage door openers access. Apple has already installed a server side fix on this Zero Day pending a device wide fix next week. PING!

I don’t use Apple - so how does it do updates? Does it automatically download & install updates or can you choose to do download/install manually or ?

The last update before the latest update trashed my iPhone 6.
Rebooted itself every 2-3 minutes, dropped phone calls, all my alarms and reminders gone...
Pretty sure my next phone will be an Android.
