Off the coast of South Africa, just below the oceans surface, an epic battle is underway as killer whales hunt and kill the worlds most iconic predator, the great white shark.
The phenomenon began in early May when scientists at shark cage diving company Marine Dynamics spotted a pair of killer whales cruising along the south western coast of South Africa. Days later, great white shark carcasses began washing up in their wake.

Killer whales are all cute and cuddly at Sea World, but they’re not called killers for nothin’
Well, "Sharknado" is already a cinematic fact - maybe "Orcquake"?
Let's see, the San Andreas fault starts opening up and seawater fills in and orcas ride the waves up all the suddenly appearing cracks in cities and neighborhoods, eating all the people who fall in while they were doing random things like having a bar-b-que or barmitzva, or sitting at a bar or on a barcalounger.
Oh, and that one tragic shot of little Timmy Whitaker peddling his bike delivering newspapers when suddenly, CRACK, CHOMP! And then the shot of just a sneaker next to some bloody newspapers, which, ironically, headline that the officials state that orca problem is just a false story. And....cut.
I think Orcas finally said you humans think we are all cute and like and how scared you are of sharks. Well show you who is the alpha predator.
Probably not so much, since they're also on the orca menu.
There was a documentary out there a few years ago (sorry, can’t remember the title), and it was about a whale watching boat, filled with tourists, that went out into the water (somewhere around SFO) and were watching a great white shark get attacked by an Orca. Orca won.
Saw “Orca” in ‘77 not too long after I saw “Grizzly”. “Jaws” popularity sort of launched a new horror genre an I saw a bunch of those at the time.
“Leave the seals alone!”
They are essentially 5 ton feral German Shepherds with fins.
“Most notably, all the sharks were missing their entire livers, which were removed with almost surgical precision. “
That is awesome!
Go the youtube link below and stay on it in spite of Jaws stuff. This happened out west of San Francisco.

A few years ago, my wife and I saw a pod of Orcas take out some Great Whites off the coastal waters of central California.
At first we thought the Orcas were attacking immature gray whales.
Turned out a great white attack a gray whale calf and the Orcas took it out.
After both of these attacks, the Great Whites left their red triangle for a few weeks. Also, the seals came into the harbors and climbed up on the pier decks in case the Orcas wanted some Seal meat for a few weeks.
The feed on the same prey.
Orca doesn’t tolerate competition.
Orcas are the #1 APEX predators in the Ocean.
“Eat more shrak!”
They are very smart. My family and I were on a boat in the San Juan Islands when my grandson was a baby. Every time he cried the orcas came right up to the boat. The captain said that’s the most orcas he’d seen in one day and the closest, calling my grandson the “whale whisperer”. I asked him what would happen if he played a tape of a baby crying and he said the orcas know the difference. That was a great day.
Yep. Already fretting about the great white population. They’ll blame it on global warming or something and try to fix this outrageous injustice.
They call them killer whales but they’re actually dolphins. Some say the English name “killer whales” is a mistranslation of the Spanish name for them “whale killers”.
Orcas must have even bigger livers then, because that's where sharks deal with all the toxins from the crap they eat. Shark liver is pretty much inedible for humans.
I’d like to see that.
