Amazing. Between Voyager and the Mars Rovers, we built some great stuff.

Is this the spacecraft with a diagram of the solar system, showing which planet it came from, and also have drawings of a nude man and woman as inhabitants of this planet?
If aliens come across this thousands of years from now, what will they think?

Beaming with pride! My Dad ran the program at GE that built the RTGs that power Voyager 1 & 2. I still remember watching the videos he had of them smashing the transportation casks loaded on rail cars into a solid concrete barrier to prove that they casks wouldn’t split open in the event the rocket crashed on lift off.
The spacecraft are still called Mariner Jupiter-Saturn in our family!
Thanks for posting.

At present, the Voyager 1 spacecraft is 21 billion kilometers from Earth, or about 141 times the distance between the Earth and Sun. It has, in fact, moved beyond our Solar System into interstellar space. However, we can still communicate with Voyager across that distance. Oh, my.

Hey guys. I just finished firing up the thrusters.
I am going to take a break. I will see you in 37 years.
Until then, bye.

The engineers behind Voyager 1 probably went to the same engineering schools as the engineers behind 1970’s American cars.

Voyager I calls NASA after 37 years:
NASA, answering the phone: “Hello?”
VOYAGER I: “Hey, it’s Voyager.”
NASA: “Let me put your father on the phone.”
VOYAGER I: “Ma!”
FRANK: “Who is this?”
VOYAGER I: “Dad, it’s me. Hey, listen, I was at Fortuna’s the other day, and, you know what, you were right.”
NASA, feigning a Chinese, muffled voice: “Chinese food.”
FRANK, hanging up: “Sorry, Voyager, our Chinese food just came. Talk to you later.”
VOYAGER I: “Chinese food?”
