Why would Flynn lie about something seemingly innocent?

Flynn is reported to have lied about his contact with Russia which seems to be ordinary communications for a transition team. So why lie in the first place?

The dots are not connecting. Is this the tip of an iceberg that we are not being shown.

What else did Flynn do wrong? Is it stuff that is important to keep secret for national security? Is it stuff that is somehow related to Flynn not following directions given by administration? Is it stuff that goes deeper against Trump that we will not be privy to?

Something is missing.

The FBI tries to confuse people and talk them into a corner. Why didn’t he have a lawyer?

"I believe that for a lie to be prosecuted it needs to be about a material fact done with intention."

Tell that to Martha Stewart.

> Trump made a mistake trusting him.

Hopefully no one ever had to rely on Flynn in battle.

In my working life, I occasionally came across people who lied about the damnest things. Some of it is based in, knowledge is power. Some of it is a reflexive defensiveness. Some people just lie... apparently for no good reason.

He should never have spoken without a lawyer.

Didn’t the F.B.I interview him for a security clearance? Correct me if I’m wrong but is it normal to bring a lawyer to a security clearance interview?

Ok, who could he be going after. First he could be adding to Manafort’s case. He could also be going after some people who are not in the White House. That includes Reince and it could mean Trump Jr.

Remember there is no law against talking to the Russians. You have to work with the Russians to win the election by doing something illegal. Talking to them is fine. Telling them to release stolen documents to Wiki-leaks is not.

Offering to the Russians something before you get into government for pay. But nobody has been saying that happened. So its very possible this is all to get Manafort.

Flynn is a legend in his own mind. He seems to have visions of grandeur and power that were never his. Throw in naivety about the rules of presidential elections and power transition and you get a low hanging fruit for Mueller.

That or Flynn is an idiot and was a Clinton/Obama plant all along.

you can read it here. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/12/01/us/document-Flynn-FBI-Russia.html

No reason to lie about this stuff.
What else, if anything does Mueller have ?
Doesn’t look like anything Flynn can give him touches Pres. Trump.

Flakey Flynn wants immunity for other crimes he committed, IMO. He will be perfectly happy to back stab POTUS to get it. Guaranteed.

Flynn is reported to have lied about his contact with Russia

Since his conversations with the Russian ambassador were wiretapped by the FBI, it's very possible, even likely, that he may have said something to them that was contradictory to what was actually taped.

Do you remember every conversation you had with your best friends last July for example?

A better question is: how did Mueller acquire Inquisition-like powers of investigation and politically-inspired harassment?

Is this the tip of an iceberg that we are not being shown.

The MSM is creating an artificial iceberg based on THEIR OWN BELIEF of what may have occurred........

FWIW, Rush keeps referencing a Jan 17 article in the Washington Post that supposedly claims they had seen the transcripts of the Flynn telephone call, and there was no smoking gun found. I’m looking for that article now.

It’s sort of a PROCESS error.

He thought he remembered a meeting was on Wednesday, but it was actually on Tuesday so HE LIED TO THE FBI!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or he didn’t remember saying ‘[something]’ to someone when he really did say it.

That is exactly what Scooter Libby was convicted of. Bush was a pussy for not pardoning him completely before he went to jail, and covering all his legal fees.

I think the government (and the press) create so much fear that even the innocent know they’ll be found guilty of something and are trying to protect themselves by any means. And then they get convicted for “lying” about something innocent because they’re so afraid.

I’m no big fan of Flynn, but at the same time, I think we should say that this whole process is worse than medieaval, and in fact is unAmerican and should be found to violate the Constitutional provisions intended to protect against Star Chambers and similar politically motivated proceedings.

Martha Stewart was completely railroaded, and I don’t know why. She was a lib (and still is) but somebody in DC (Hillary?) didn’t like her one little bit. So she had to go - possibly for being a working class “ethnic” (Polish) white woman succeeding on her own without having married a serial rapist?
