Five is being over generous, I think.

She may view this as a role to "play", but she's not in the least knowledgeable about Royalty, what that entails, the language differences and the behavior differences, nor anything else. These aren't things she can learn in a week, a month, or even in one year and carry it off.

This isn't an "acting job" that she can leave behind, once the shooting stops.

It'll either end in divorce ( all of her family, FOR MANY GENERATIONS, HAVE BEEN DIVORCED AT LEAST ONCE ! )after a few years, or she'll just leave.

The old generation is passing and Meghan will get to redefine the role as she pleases. The monarchy was always at risk of being outdated and irrelevant. And Diana’s death was cause for much reflection.

They got their 1st breath of fresh air in awhile when William wed Kate, who have abandoned much protocol already - and now the institution is even more “updated” with Harry’s engagement. Unlike the other former rival monarchies of Europe, the British one has managed to adapt to the needs of the people they serve while still being rooted in tradition. I see many years ahead for it at this rate.

As for Meghan, there are yearbook photos of her as homecoming *queen* and quotes from former peers who described her as serious about service, and charismatic even in high school. This was her destiny if you ask me.
