After all of the life experience Maggie and the others have had there is no way they would bring a mass of blood-thirsty, murderous animals who delusionally call themselves "saviors" within their stronghold and pen them up in a tinker-toy stockade that anyone with an ounce of ingenuity could easily break out of, overpower their mediocre guards who aren't even remotely watching their prisoners with any kind of diligence whatsoever and take over the camp. All because some cherub faced, long haired, doe eyed guy calling himself "jesus" tells them "it's the right thing to do." It makes ZERO sense whatsoever and runs counterintuitive to EVERYTHING they have learned from years of experience, and what they have personally gone through at the hand of Negan and his band of murderous cut throats.
