Maybe it's the shock of it all, but can't believe no one had already posted a thread about this.

The enthusiasm and loyalty expressed in your post is a yuge part of what makes collegiate athletics such fun .. and may it always remain so !

Thanks to all who contributed to the thread.
Really, the 'shocking' referred to re this AU-UA upset (to a BigTen fella) was that almost an hour had gone by and no one had posted a thread about it .. egads !

Yesterday was a very rare three game day for me, and I konked out about 22:30.
So if any replies were neglected, it was due to fatigue rather than rudeness.

Anyway, sure hope next Saturday gets here quick !

One of those rare times when everyone’s (the sports fans) are too busy actually watching.

By the way, my daughter wanted her friend to come over and watch the game with her, and I got stuck having to go get her to bring over minutes before the kick off—in fact, we listened to the coin flip on the car radio.

I live about 25 miles East of Auburn, Alabama.

Not a car on the road. Made it home in record time!

One more thing. Went for coffee at the local McDonalds this morning.

You sure could tell the Auburn fans versus the Alabama fans by the looks at of the faces!

It was like this:

Kudos to your daughter and her friend for being fans !
I always get a kick out of seeing girls in the stands being just as fired up as the boys, if not more so .. lol

Speaking of, gonna be a lot of abrasions this morning amongst all the kids who, on spilling out of the stands to get to the field, got stuck in those hedges at the bottom   :-))

Alabama right now is the 3rd best team in the SEC. And that doesn’t change after next Saturday.

One of the more ignorant remarks you've made in this thread, and that's saying something. Even though Florida, Tennessee and Georgia have won national championships in the past, all have been well below their historical level for about a decade. No SEC east team has won the SEC title game since 2008.

Georgia has obviously improved under Kirby Smart, but their high ranking was suspect to anyone knowledgeable about the SEC, as the outcome of their game with Auburn proved. Until they beat Auburn, Alabama and even LSU on the field, they will remain suspect.

In the college football playoffs the Big Ten, the SEC and the ACC each have won 1 championship...

Lol, college football did not start three years ago. And, Alabama or Auburn have still won five and the last eight national titles and played in seven of the last eight title games.

And, have you ever heard of Bear Bryant, Woody Hayes, Darrell Royal, John McKay, Bo Schembechler, etc.? College football has been around a long time and Bama has always won far more than its share.

Your Bama/SEC envy is showing and it's not a pretty sight. By the way, what team do you support? Or are you just another of those anonymous Bama hating trolls who prowl all the sports forums trashing the Crimson Tide and never saying which team, if any, they support?

LOL...in the new playoff era the teams that are crowned champions actually have to win it on the field of play, not some subjective beauty contest where pre-BCS the two top teams rarely met for a true championship game.

You are the most ignorant...the SEC champion is the best, the loser of the SEC championship game is the 2nd best, leaving mighty Alabama as 3rd best. Better luck next year.

The worst thing that happened to the SEC was not only Alabama losing to a 2 loss team but also Notre Dame losing for a 3rd time. There goes Georgia’s strength of schedule. Need to question the entire SEC’s sos...

If Alabama makes it into the playoff, then it is time to call the College Football Playoffs....

...the Alabama Invitational Tournament.

Clemson
Auburn
Oklahoma
Wisconsin

if Wisconsin loses to OSU in champ game, then Alabama should be considered,,,but a Georgia win vs Auburn, puts Bama up against Auburn who has a much better resume and has beaten them soundly.

Alabama is officially out. Their only shot was to have beaten Auburn. If they had won and then lost against Georgia they MIGHT have had an argument. Now their SOS is not comparable to any of the other conference champs. Georgia’ best win was Notre Dame who just lost their THIRD GAME to 3 loss Stanford, who earlier lost to Sand Diego State. So the SEC’s strength of schedule took a major hit.

When Ohio State beats Wisconsin they’d have beaten No. 2 ranked Penn State at the time (still in the top ten), also likely a 3rd ranked Wisconsin. One of their losses would have been to no. 5 ranked Oklahoma at the time, now likely no. 2. Also they blitzed no. 12 Michigan State at the time, still ranked in the top 15.

Plus they won the Big Ten East, arguably the toughest division in all of college football this year, and won the championship in the best conference. Buckeyes in CFP, Bama New Years day bowl.

Congratulations, OSU is now 1-3 against Bama and that win was over the second or third weakest team of the Saban era.

As I said, you know nothing about the relative strength of the east and west divisions of the SEC, as your statements here prove.

And you should be embarrassed to pretend that OSU with two loses and a 21 point loss to Iowa (7-5 overall, 4-5 in the Big 10+4) should be in the playoff under any circumstances.

Lol, and you talk about strength of schedule.

Watch it and weep...Alabama had a SOS of 64 before the Auburn game. which they lost...Bye bye Bama.

How Ohio State could edge out Alabama in CFP Heather Dinich details a scenario that would propel the Buckeyes into the College Football Playoff over the Tide.

Ooh, now we are into which teams were weaker or stronger. The next year OSU team was arguably even better, but due to a 3 point loss to Michigan State in the wind and rain bowl in Columbus they got in the playoffs and OSU didn’t. But carry on with your deluded relativism...

Did you happen to note how that Michigan State team that eliminated OSU fared that year in the 2015 playoffs? I’ll remind you: Alabama 38 MSU 0

But OSU did make the playoffs for the 2016 season. Clemson 31, OSU 0.

That doesn’t exactly make a strong case for including Big 10+4 teams in the playoffs over other conferences. As I said, be thankful you played the second or third weakest Bama team of the Saban era in 2014.

Alabama fans seem to be all about projection...

So using your arguments the competitors could say that Alabama didn’t beat their strongest teams...works both ways bubba.
