Maybe it's the shock of it all, but can't believe no one had already posted a thread about this.
I noted that he threw that second pass from in front of the line of scrimmage but didn’t question it when they blew it dead in light of the fact he didn’t score.
I agree. It's unreal how Gary Danielson and some others brag on Hurts constantly. They somehow fail to mention that he completed only 42% of his passes in last year's championship game, and he typically has mediocre to terrible passing stats against the best competition.
He's a good running QB, but when we need a solid and consistent passing attack to win, he's always lacking.
No. He'd spent some time at Baylor, but left there. He spent last season playing as the opposition QB during practices for a HS team.
They were leading by 17 points at one time. Anyway they have managed to overcome that loss with now consecutive wins over the number 1 ranked team. They should be no lower than no. 4. Where Alabama and Miami fall will be the big question.
Mighty different stage for the lad this year, ehh ?
Lol, and who are the powerhouse teams this year who've played killer schedules? And what do you think of these "quality" losses by top ranked teams?
Clemson lost to 4-8 Syracuse.
Miami lost to 4-8 Pittsburg.
Oklahoma lost at home to 7-5 Iowa State.
Ohio State lost to Iowa 24-55.
Yep that 14-26 Bama loss to 10-2 Auburn should just eliminate the Tide from all consideration considering all those quality losses above.
There really aren't any truly superior teams this year, and the above have no stronger claim to a playoff spot than several other teams.
I guess the quarterback also played defense because since his injury they couldnt stop anybody.
You could say the same thing about Clemson. They played lowly Syracuse halfway through the season and lowly Syracuse beat them. Clemson is supposed to be this great team with a great defense yet they couldnt beat one of the worst teams in the country. Yes Clemson was without their starting quarterback but it was Syracuse they were playing and they lost. Syracuse finished the season 4-8. No one seems to care that Clemson lost to lowly Syracuse but let Alabama lose game one in the last two seasons and the world stops and theyre not making the playoffs.
In order for Alabama to be in the playoff a second conference champion will have to be left out, who will that be? I don’t think they’ll put a 3rd place team in over a conference champ.
As far as the national title, Alabama is done for this year.
If they defeat a good team in a bowl game Alabama could still be fairly highly ranked.
There could be conference champs who lost to some very weak teams. Losing to teams with 4-8 records, or losing by 21 points to an unranked teamm is not a resume enhancement, conference champion or not.
The committee is to select the four best teams using several criteria, not just automatically pick conference champions.
It’s all bulls**t. When Alabama or Ohio State lose, they drop from 1st to 3rd place. Penn State loses two games by 4 points and they fall from 4th to 32nd place. Total points mean nothing. They won today by 63 points, and they might move up to 30th place.
Yuppers!
Miami and Clemson may have lost a game to a bad team, but whoever wins that game will have a better win than Alabama has all year. Alabama is paying the price of a loss at a bad time, that’s the way it goes. Better luck next year.
Clemson didn’t end up losing 6 games. The quarterback wasn’t the only issue with this team. Pre season rankings are nothing more than a beauty contest, completely subjective.
Why would you be shocked. Many were calling for this “upset.”
Name Bama’s top wins...a 2 loss Ohio State has a better resume than Alabama. They lost in week 2 to now no. 2 Oklahoma. Ohio State lost on the road to Iowa which lost by 2 points to Penn State a few weeks earlier, and Iowa beat Iowa State which is the only team to have beaten Oklahoma. Ban needed the win against Auburn to enhance it’s weak resume. The loss gives them no shot because 2 teams from the SEC are getting into the CFP.
“Conference champs and a couple at-large teams - take the ridiculous subjectivity out of it. “
Yes, the new and improved BCS is as ridiculous as the old BCS.
Conference champions and a couple wild cards. (Alabama and Notre Dame’s lobbyists won’t be out of work.) Every other sport but college football has playoffs.
Neither Miami nor Clemson deserve to be in the four team playoff because of their losses to poor, 4-8 teams, nor does Ohio State due to two losses, and particularly the 21 point loss to Iowa. No matter if they win conference championships.
And you have the final say on absolutley nothing, the same as me. And. there simply aren’t any superior teams this year compared to most prior years.
Troy is FBS.
So if Ohio State beats Wisconsin, no one from the Pac-12, Big 10- or the ACC should be in the playoff. Who should be in then?
