I looked for TVs in the 32-40” range last night and this morning but I don’t see any really great deals. 40% is about the best I saw but most were 20-25%. Can find deals like that all year. All the best deals were either no name brands, out of stock, in-store only(ain’t gunndo it), 720p as opposed to 1080p/4k or smart TVs or built in dvd player, neither of which I want.
Will try again on cyber Monday and keep checking throughout Dec. We don’t really do the commercialized Christmas. Can’t afford it anyway so we get one thing that we all can enjoy or we all get the same/similar things. Two years ago it was a laptop for each of us. Used thinkpads from ebay but bigger and faster than what we had. So it doesn’t really matter if it happens by Dec. 25th. Sometimes it doesn’t happen til spring. Last year it was a sound bar w/sub-woofer. Got one for a 32-40” TV so now I’m trying to find a TV to match. We have an older 26”, although it’s 1080p. We had to buy new tires last month which put a damper on things but I suppose that’s sort of a family gift. LOL Durn gravel roads.
Yup, amazon has good deals on all their own stuff. Fire this and kindle that. Most other things aren’t much better of a deal than you can find throughout the year.
Bestbuy is mostly in-store. Walmart is mixed, some in-store, some shippable, bunch of out of stock and no names.
Couple of the best, true, spirit of Christmas, Christmas’.
One year we were at a thrift store, 2 weeks before Christmas, buying used windows,(we were living in a farm house that hadn’t been lived in for 30 years) loading them on the roof of a $400 escort wagon, 30 degrees with 30 mph winds, went to get in the car and some woman walked over to my wife, stuck something in her hand and said ‘you have a Merry Christmas maam’. The sun was behind the woman so all my wife saw was a silhouette and then she was gone. It was $40. The wife cried half way home.
Second year after we bought this property, a guy stopped by and pulled a huge ham and 11 dozen fresh farm eggs out of the back of the truck and gave them to us along with a card. Asked him his name and he said just call me Pilgrim. He left, we went inside, open the card and it had $200 in it. The wife balled and I shed a few tears myself.
Maybe we’ll put off the TV ‘til spring and make someone cry this year instead.
We’ve got steady income and have actually had a productive year. Lot’s of improvements around the homestead.
Wait until closer to Super Bowl to buy a TV. The sale prices are comparable to Black Friday.
I saw a 50” Sharp TV for only $179 yesterday. I remember that because I even showed it to my wife and her nephew said he might be buying it. Let me see if I can find that online link.
p.s. It looks like it is getting very good customer reviews.
