Wild turkeys can fly. We used to have a flock of them who nested way up in our pine trees.

One of the best of the series, no doubt. Thanks for the post, bgill.

WILD TURKEYS can fly. One took up residence in his backyard this summer. Every evening the turkey would eye the roof of the neighbor’s garage, fly to the top, eye the limbs of the giant tree in my son’s back yard, then fly up to the highest limb. I don’t believe this turkey could go long distances. His short flight took a lot of effort.

It was quite the sight to see the turkey fly out of the tree in the morning.

I’ve seen a bunch of turkeys roosting way high up on a eucalyptus trees, so I’m pretty sure they can fly.

Echoing others, wild turkeys can and do fly, when they have to. People in my area have an agreement not to hunt anything in the area, so turkey and deer roam freely, and with no fear of people. Just erect high and sturdy fences around gardens.

My nephews little dog will chase the turkeys when he can, and I’ve seen a few fly over the house. The dog is afraid of the deer, though.

Les Nessman didn’t deliver that line. Arthur Carlson did. Les was the on site, remote reporter for the event. “Oh...the humanity!”

Domestic turkeys don’t fly...They are too heavy and fat and do not use their chest muscles...

I made all my young adult offspring watch it today. They have no appreciation for fine culture, although I did catch a few snickers.

Oh the humanity.

The best part is the opening credits when the driver is flicking through stations and came to a newscaster saying “While not intoxicated, the Senator could not explain his nudity.”

Nothing new since the 1970’s

You are correct. I own the DVD. Every few years I dig it out and play all my favorites, including the two series premier episodes. I used to be a TV version of "Les Nessman" except my concentration was on aviation news, and I had much better hair!
