It seems at bit excessive to buy $20.00 in gas which should weigh around eight gallons.

That’s more than fifty pounds of gas to haul.

In the area where this happened they make you pay about $10 for a gas container. May be more lately. Probably only 2 gal. of gas.

He had to buy the gas can, too? I mean, she probably didn't have one in her car, and I doubt the station where he bought the gas would lend him one.

I don't imagine he just happened to have a gas can on him. So, he either had to buy one or pay a deposit since he had no ID.

He probably had to buy a two gallon gas can for 12 bucks and put two gallons in it with 6 bucks.
