WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Maybe nice guys really do finish last, after all. Women don’t view unattractive men as “dating material,” no matter how exceptional their other qualities are, a new study finds.
Researchers at Eastern Connecticut State University looked at the mate preferences of 80 young women, aged 15 to 29, while also having 61 of their mothers weigh in.
The participants were presented with photographs of men varying in both attractiveness and described as one of three dispositions:“friendly,” “pleasing,” or “respectful.”
Additional trait profiles were explained for each of the three dispositions. Men labeled “respectful” included the traits ‘respectful, trustworthy, and honest;’ the ‘friendly’ men were labeled ‘friendly, dependable, and mature;’ and the ‘pleasing” profile meant that the man was ‘of a pleasing disposition, ambitious, and intelligent.’
The women were then asked to assess how attractive they found each man photographed, along with whether they found the man suitable to date, either themselves or for their daughters.
Simply put, men viewed as unattractive were not viewed as potential suitors, no matter the level of other redeeming qualities that accompanied their photos. Those with favorable personality traits that were ranked highly were at least moderately attractive.

Unless the unattractive Man’s won the Powerball Lottery or his nickname is “The Human Tripod”.
In high school girls who fathers owned package stores always had boyfriends regardless of looks.
Attractive women who are otherwise empty vessels are not “marrying material” as far as smart men are concerned.
“What else you got?” is hard to put tactfully, but is a very good question for parents to ask their daughters long before dating is even an issue. Of course neither boys nor girls *start* by having other assets, so it is a long process to discover and develop *useful* things like smarts, common sense, physical prowess, talent, independence, wit, character and other things.
But nothing so focuses smart men on a woman than her demonstrating not only is she not empty, but has useful and valuable skills beyond her looks.
And truthfully, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that looks don’t last. Also that someone who abuses themselves with food, drink, drugs, smoke, and sexual license and other bad habits is going to burn out quickly, so are not good long term investments.

There's the trouble.
Hey, I thought it was pretty neat, most likely deliberate.
But what can you expect? He only has two college degrees.
That's only the beginning of the trouble, and it's not the worst part, by any means.
What I meant is that girls should realize that giving their selves away like that won’t work.

They left out the trait “rich AF”. To the women surveyed, a fly-covered turd with a private jet is “dateable”.
