WILLIMANTIC, Conn. Maybe nice guys really do finish last, after all. Women dont view unattractive men as dating material, no matter how exceptional their other qualities are, a new study finds.
Researchers at Eastern Connecticut State University looked at the mate preferences of 80 young women, aged 15 to 29, while also having 61 of their mothers weigh in.
The participants were presented with photographs of men varying in both attractiveness and described as one of three dispositions:friendly, pleasing, or respectful.
Additional trait profiles were explained for each of the three dispositions. Men labeled respectful included the traits respectful, trustworthy, and honest; the friendly men were labeled friendly, dependable, and mature; and the pleasing profile meant that the man was of a pleasing disposition, ambitious, and intelligent.
The women were then asked to assess how attractive they found each man photographed, along with whether they found the man suitable to date, either themselves or for their daughters.
Simply put, men viewed as unattractive were not viewed as potential suitors, no matter the level of other redeeming qualities that accompanied their photos. Those with favorable personality traits that were ranked highly were at least moderately attractive.

And in other news.....water is wet.
I wonder how $$ factored into the equation??
They left out one essential rating factor: size of bank account.
This kind of “research” might be indicative of something for the Tinder generation, but out in real life, meeting an actual person and forming a personal opinion of him or her is very different from looking at a photograph.
first impressions are what the less attractive need to overcome with personality unless they are rich , powerful executives ( stating the obvious)
I was lucky when it came to genetics in my family. I am the tallest, best looking and smartest. Not a boast or anything, it’s just the way it turned out. I never had a problem finding women to go out with me.
Explain Henry Kissinger, Woody Allen, Ringo Starr and almost every comedian you’ve ever heard of.
This study only looked at pictures.
I would think that once a woman gets to know a guy, she sees past the appearance to his qualities.
Additionally, any person can improve his or her appearance with good posture, tidy clothes, and attention to grooming.
Problem solved.
Oh, wait. Are we talking about enduring relationships between a man and a woman (freaks, queers and lunatics need not apply) where two people love and care for one another?
In that case, maybe we ought not be preoccupied with physical appearance since that's going to fade anyway. Maybe we should focus on spirituality and personality.
Now, problem solved.
Show pictures of their fat bank accounts to the same women and watch how fast the same guys get better looking.
She's your mother. I wouldn't expect her to be objective, LOL. Do you think your sisters are pretty? There's no need to answer, you probably can't be objective either.
My wife thinks are kids are handsome, as do I.
Me too.
That fact also benefited me in getting jobs. I've never had a problem getting a job or a date....not bragging either, it's just a fact.
Rich and powerful.
Woody Allen
Rich and a movie star.
Ringo Starr
Rich and a rock star.
Look over there (where?)
There, here comes Jeanie with her new boyfriend
They say that looks don’t count for much, if so, there goes your proof
Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
‘Cause if my eyes don’t deceive me, there’s something going wrong around here
Around here
15 to 29 year olds haven’t hit the wall. They think they can have it all. Be interesting to see the results at ages 30 to 39.
The problem is, the guys 30 to 39 are wising up. More of them have come to the conclusion that they don’t want to be second fiddle given the current family court system. If they can go it alone 22-29, why not go it alone thereafter?
Also, "drummer," "rich," and "drug dealer."
