David Cassidy died in Florida on Tuesday, November 21, days after he was admitted to hospital suffering organ failure, Us Weekly can confirm.
I had Tiger Beat posters of him on my teenage girl wall..
So did I!
Goodbye David. Thanks for the fun.
Another part of my childhood floats away.
Sad, same age as I am.
Hadn’t expected this.
The sad part about getting old, is all the people from your youth dropping like flies.
Their like an alarm clock going off every few days.
Sad.
RIP
Didn’t he play the guitar?
That’s right. And when they’re younger than us, the alarm clock sounds louder. lol
I actually liked ol’ David. Seemed like a nice enough guy. Had a pretty good voice. Compared to the complete crap that passes as “music” these days, he definitely had some talent. Sad to see a guy go at what is really too young these days.
So long David. I hope you found some peace these past few years.
And Keith Richards lives on......
290 students graduated from my high school (including me)
in 1967. At our 50th reunion we know that 55 of our classmates have passed away. The number may be as high as 60.
Your posts are always insightful, to the point, and often bittersweet. Thank you.
Did not realize David Cassidy was in such bad shape. RIP.
“And Keith Richards lives on......”
That guy will probably make it to 100. And he’ll look like he’s 200.
Atleast he didn’t waste away with the dementia that is a slow killer and takes its worst toll out on family...He was diagnosed 2 years ago...
I was 8 years old when the Partridge Family went on the air. For most of its run, it was paired with the Brady Bunch on Friday nights. I always thought the Partridge Family was way cooler than the Brady Bunch.
My sister and I used to watch the show. I used to pretend I was Danny as he was closer to my age. Of course, my sister was infatuated with David Cassidy along with millions of other girls. I thought Danny was cooler than David (Keith) however. I was still a bit young to get into girls but towards the end, I started liking Susan Dey. The younger girl (Suzanne Crough) who seemed to just tap on a tambourine never really appealed to me.
I actually thought this was a real life family. I remember writing a letter to Reuben Kincaid asking to be let into the band as a drummer. I didn't really know how to play the drums but I figured with a little practice, I could do a better job than that Chris. For weeks, I kept imagining that the Partridge Family bus would pull up to my house and admit me as a member. Instead, I got a form letter inviting me to join the Partridge Family fan club. Enclosed was a glossy of David Cassidy that I immediately handed over to my sister. It was my Ovaltine moment.
Anyway, some of the Partridge Family songs were quite good. One of my favorite ones at the time was Summer Days.
