My brother has Dish. They are offering to come and install an over-the-air digital antenna for free. Sounds to me like they want to get off the treadmill of constantly negotiating rebroadcast rights.

Many millions of Americans can't get unthrottled broadband, you know.

At our house we are limited to 5mbps DSL or wireless with a 40G per month cap. Can't do much with Netflix, Hulu, etc on those terms.....

We got a decent indoor antenna and converter and now get over 35 free channels over-the-air. The antenna was $33 and the converter to make our old TV work was $30.

These were excellent buys that made us only buy 50 Mb Internet for $40/month instead. No more packages with cable for us. Everything is online and on-demand, anyway.

Agreed, but unless you go with a minimalist content package, the costs of cord cutting is sneaking up. Replacing full cable with full internet TV is pretty much a wash.
