I finally found a black Toy Poodle online, four weeks old. We were also considering getting a Shih Tzu but they grow up to have long hair. Good for them and people that like that but not for us in the final decision (though a Toy Poodle does need to have its hair cut). Then my wife told me that night that our daughter saw a black dog and said that black dogs are so cute. That made it final as far as I was concerned. The next day my wife called the breeder and we have the Toy Poodle on reserve until she is over 8 weeks old in the second week of January, when we can pick her up, with all the papers. Or I think the papers will actually get mailed to us (either way that's a small detail).
I try to keep the whole thing a surprise as much as possible but my daughter has been promised and is expecting a puppy.
This morning I asked my daughter if she gets a black puppy what would she name it and she replied straight off: "Luna". Which I like. Easy to say, sounds nice, is mysterious, mischievous, and fits the dog because of the black night theme. I told her that's a fanatic name but quickly added that she could change her mind. But realistically speaking this is probably the dog's name and that is fine. :)
Luna has the same reference (moon) in German and English so that is nice too.

I asked my wife where our daughter got Luna from and she said from a game app she is playing.
I was like: Ahh. Very good name though.
