What happened about halfway through your post? All of a sudden Skynet took over and gave us a robot stream of consciousness that doesn’t match the article.

Old news. First of all the Brilliance car is in class of compact Chrysler and it is about a decade old. You can’t compare it to 7er on safety. Chinese cars are heavily improving over time. 15 years ago it was garbage, 10 years ago they were already bearable and given the right price you might consider getting a modern one right now.

An electric concept car from Chinese automaker GAC Group at the Detroit auto show. btw, Volvos are now built in China...

Quality-wise Chinese cars can't be any worse than our 2005 Hyundai Sante Fe!

We need a tariff NOW! Try shipping cars to China and selling them there, good luck. Globalist Free Traitors are killing us!

I suppose if you like electric vehicles with absolutely no structural integrity, love paying more for electricity, one of these things could be parked in your driveway someday soon.
Trumpchi, crash and die!

The United States success exporting autos to China has come in the face of substantial barriers at the border, notably Chinas 25 percent auto tariff. China also imposes a special tax on cars and SUVs with large engines, which tends to fall on imports (a luxury tax is imminently reasonable by the way; it only arouses suspicion because of the relative absence of domestic Chinese production in this segment).Auto Trade with China

Nice looking deathtrap. Pity that China manufacturers tend to underpower their cars (I4’s where *6/*8 would be) as well.

Yet their engines are still poky and cars too global. Even if they improved, they still don’t make anything I’d want to drive.
Now if they managed to clone an American landyacht with a US-style (read: >3L, not an I4) engine, but without the stratospheric price tag, I’d show some interest.

The biggest Chinese engine in a car I saw was a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder Mitsubishi clone from 1990s on 2009 Great Wall Hover.
I also drove a newer Chinese full-size SUV powered by 2 liter! 4 cylinder engine. It was turbocharged to about 200 hp.
To: NorseViking
Aside from emissions and cost, anything that keeps them from going further?

I believe Chinese domestic tax policies puts 200hp+ out of the reach of the Middle Class.
