FULL TITLE: Partridge Family star David Cassidy, 67, is placed in an 'induced coma with multiple organ failure' and his family is told to 'prepare for the worst' nine months after revealing he had dementia
David Cassidy is in a coma and is suffering from multiple organ failure, according to reports.
The 67-year-old Partridge Family star and singer was rushed to hospital in Florida three days ago.
A source told TMZ that his condition was 'grim'. He is believed to have been in failing health for the last two months.
Doctors believe he could die if he doesn't get an urgent kidney or liver transplant.
His family have been told to prepare for the worst. The gossip site says they have gathered at his bedside.
A source told The Blast he is 'in and out of consciousness' and his condition is being monitored very closely.
Cassidy is widely known for his starring role as Keith Partridge on the 1970s series The Partridge Family.
In February, the star revealed he was battling dementia after he fell on stage during a concert in Los Angeles. His mother, actress Evelyn Ward, and his grandfather also had the condition.

the god(s) we worship speak much about us
I’m not being cruel but an organ transplant won’t cure his dementia. I saw him do a television interview about his dementia prognosis. Very sad.
Did not care much about that show. More of a Brady Bunch fan. Still hate it that a childhood icon is about to pass. Means I’m getting old.
Just another slimy Democrat.....
(Another) dumb question: How does dementia cause organs to fail?
i hope and pray the Lord is in him now.
“Doctors believe he could die if he doesn’t get an urgent kidney or liver transplant. “
which is it? Kidney or liver? They do different things.
Stupidly worded....as usual.
Not dumb at all, the article skims over David Cassidy's years of alcohol and substance abuse which are responsible for the organ failures and most like caused or accelerated his dementia.
How sad.
Screwy guy with a good heart.
My sister LOVED him, may she RIP.
Funny thing - I tutor a college boy who really likes comics and vintage stuff. I think I mentioned her love affair with Cassidy once. Next time he said he just had to show me a pristine copy of Tiger Beat he just happened to find at a retro comics place, headlining David Cassidy from ‘70. That was last month. And it really was in perfect shape, except the yellowing.
Hope he is able to recover.
Wow. And Malcolm Young died yesterday.
The thing I really hate about getting old is that so much your old world - the world you grew up with - dies before you. Your world becomes diminished, narrowed, over time.
So sad as to how alcohol can destroy you.
I have to get over thinking that people are “Young” just because they are younger than I am.
It is incorrect to say that dementia “causes” organ failure. Dementia is asociated with a systemic failure of the microvascular system. The vessels in other organs deteriorate similar to the vessels in the brain. Just a question of which fails first.
Makes sense.
He still lived a lot longer than his dad.
