Sounds like you’re getting there if you can dig taters and climb stairs. :)

I only planted about 100 red onions. I got the bulbs from Lowes and they must be really good because I think they all came up! Color me shocked!

I couldn’t bring myself to buy garlic starts though. I kept trying to find elephant garlic at the grocery store and couldn’t so settled for a head with pretty good sized cloves.

The store was asking $4 for two heads of regular garlic and same price for only two CLOVES of elephant garlic. No thanks!

Anyway, all I did was add some manure and topsoil after digging weeds and cat leavings out of the bed. Maybe when the weather dries up I’ll get some straw down to kerp the weeds out. I did add a bunch of plastic forks to keep out the kittehs. :) I think it’s working so far.

The first couple of years, I just planted what I had leftover from supermarket garlic cloves. They were so easy, that I ordered some from the catalog.

For the next 5 years, I have just planted what I had left each year from the prior year’s harvest. However, we are eating more and more garlic, so I did order some Siberian garlic from territorial seed co.

I planted around 60 cloves this year, and usually get 6 cloves per planting. Next year, I want to plant even more.
