Chelsea Clinton's Mission to Save the Elephants
Conde Nast ^ | November 17, 2017 | CNT Editors

Why the elephant's survival should be important to everyone.

Consider this sobering statistic: In less than a decade, the African elephant may be extinct. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in a statement Wednesday, argued that the large fees collected from permits to hunt would help fund conservation efforts—but we think there's a better way forward.

Pilar Guzmán, editor in chief of Condé Nast Traveler, sat down with Chelsea Clinton last year to learn more about the Elephants Action Network—a conservation group formed by the Clinton Global Initiative in 2013—and why the elephant's survival should be important to everyone.

Their mission: stop the demand for, killing of, and trafficking of elephants and their ivory. Some advocate that trophy hunting is one way to stop poaching; Clinton has another approach.

We used to say well-intentioned idiots are ruining the world. But now we know none of their intentions are “well”.

Trophy hunting, which I’m sure she’s against is the way to guarantee survival. There has to be an economic incentive to keep them around, can you imagine being a cattle man and having lions killing cattle, and elephants wiping out miles of fence? What would you do to help your family survive if you couldn’t get paid $50,000 each to hunt them?

Did the Mammoths need our help to go extinct?

According to anthropologists early man's hunting them for food led to their extinction. No different now except the poachers do the hunting.

Elephants are indeed in short supply. Most have evolved into RINO’s.
