Thanks for your addition.

Child safety locks didn’t exist in cars until the 1980s.

Before that, if you opened the door from the inside - locked or not - it just opened.

But notice this statement:

“Mr. Moore reached over and began groping me, him putting his hands on my breast,” she said. “I tried to open the car door to leave, but he reached over and locked it so I could not get out. I tried fighting him off...”

Yet another detail of her story that’s off.

Locks were to keep people out at the time, not to keep people in. Even power locks could be easily unlocked from the inside by pulling the lock button on top of the door sill. That old style of door lock button went away to defeat breaking in by using a coat hanger to pull the lock button up from the outside of the car. Even to this day I can’t think of a car that has child safety locks on the front doors, only on the rear doors of four door cars. I suspect a single male in 70’s Alabama would have been driving a two door coupe, though.

You're welcome.

Think about what the retired law enforcement officer said on Rush's Show on Wednesday's Show, Nov 15, 2017.
Here's an excerpt from Rush Limbaugh's Radio Show:
