Interesting looking back to see a perv like Denny Hasert made millions, became Speaker of the House, retired to become a lobbyist. Anyone remember how manying standing ovatons Hasert got when he gave his 16 minute retirement speech?

It’s a distinct possibility.

I completely agree with this. I have been saying for years that the Senate is bribed or blackmailed or both. My only disagreement is that Obama might have been the face of it but he wasn’t and isn’t the top guy.

I watched Dean Heller as a fairly decent guy in Nevada politics to an okay guy as a Congressman to a sorry individual in the Senate. Got to be a reason for that.

They’ve been blackmailed since the mid-1990’s. Remember the 900 FBI files that magically appeared in the West Wing during the Clinton Admin?

After 8 years of the Bush Admin, the Clinton machine (shich had long controlled the DNC) had to refresh their information on the newer faces in The Swamp, so it’s no wonder that same Clinton cronies got back into positions in which they could do such things during the Obama administration (instead of all Obama/Kennedy people being in those positions). It ultimately lead to the multiple illegal unmaskings we’ve been hearing about, among likely other “file” sharing.

I used to think they were being blackmailed. Now I believe they’re just being themselves.

That is what commies like the Clintons do with boxes full of FBI files on their opponents, and the Obama’s do with unmasked intelligence community surveillance on theirs - they use it to blackmail or destroy their political opposition.

They are woefully incompetent.

It’s hard to blackmail someone in today’s moral climate.

Nearly anything goes, so who cares what the community knows.

I think it’s a combination of things.

1. Blackmail
2. Threats
3. In on the corruption and afraid of exposure and/or the end of the gravy train.

I’m actually more concerned about #3.

Are key Republican leaders in D.C. from the Senate, House and Supreme Court being blackmailed?

That's a comforting fantasy.

The truth is much worse than that. The truth is that the Republicans and the Democrats agree on most major issues, and both speak soothing lies to their base voters to keep getting re-elected.

The ruling coalition is united around several things that the people are against. They are skilled at setting up phony issues (or issues that don’t concern the Federal government) to break up the formation of any possible other coalition.

Republicans and Democrats agree that the purpose of the State is redistribution. How much, and to whom, and under what circumstances, there are disagreements. But no elected officials of either Party believe that it is wrong to take from you and give to another of their own choosing, for reasons that make sense to them.

Republicans and Democrats agree that you have “rights” - lots of them. They also agree that any question ABOUT your “rights”, or whether or not something IS a “right”, should not be decided by a political process because that is “divisive”. So, they both agree that the voice of “the People” as contemplated in Articles IX and X can only be voiced by nine unelected life tenure judges, and that five of them, at any time or for any reason, can give new “rights” and take away old ones, particularly if those old ones arise out of majority voting.

Republicans and Democrats all believe in “diversity”. They, ignoring completely the results of all social science research on this subject, and contrary to millennia of human experience and wisdom, believe that the more “diverse” our country, its institutions, and any private entities within her become, the more cohesive and productive we will become.

Republicans and Democrats almost all believe in “free trade” and “immigration”. These things are good for various constituencies of both parties while they wreck the economy and the nation.

Back when convicted sex pervert Denny Hastert (R) was Speaker of the House he appointed Shimkus (R) to collect all the sex scandals and other vulnerabilities on everyone in the House, Congress critters, staff, everyone and use it to blackmail others and not allow any of it to come to light except to benefit Hastert and the corrupt establishment.

Shimkus hired on staff Davis. Davis was rewarded with his on Congressional seat in Central IL. Who controls the House scandal file these days?

Is there a Senator/staffer appointed to control this info in the Senate? who?
