9:15 AM: Chelsea Clinton and Laverne Cox on How to Persist and Repeat.
With Alex Wagner, CBS new anchor and contributing editor at The Atlantic, moderating, Women of the Year 2014 honorees Chelsea Clinton and Laverne Cox discuss how to keep pushing when the world is pushing back. The two start the talk by sharing how much love they have for each other. For example, when Chelsea was "about to pop" with her second child, Laverne asked her if she was having "a boy, girl, or trans?"
As the talk turns to remaining persistent during difficult times, Laverne opens up about how she's dealt with bullies. "When I was getting bullied [at school] I said, 'I'm here for something bigger than this bullying," she says. "One day I'm going to be rich and famous, and I'll show all of you." She knew going into acting would be "an uphill battle," but "I did it for the love, and I continue to do it for the love."
Chelsea opens up about growing up in the public political eye. "I was expected to have opinions and views about what I thought was right and what I thought was wrong," she says. At the dinner table, a young Chelsea would have mock debates with her parents. "I had strong feelings about school lunches, unsurprisingly," she jokes. But that experience helped her understand what politics should be versus what it "actually is." She thinks of those debates today, when "so much of our political discourse is not about solutions." Chelsea hopes our country can get to a place where racism and sexism aren't considered opinions. "When you're denying someone their equal humanity and dignity, that's not an opinion," she explains.

Shoes. I always notice peoples shoes. I think they say a lot about a person. Chelsea always wears ugly, beat up, dirty shoes. Tells me shes a complete slob......on top of being fugly.
Funny, I noticed the shoes too. I’ve the same shoes on her over and over and I’m pretty sure that some newspaper had a close up and they were a mess.
Re: “boy, girl, or trans?”
The appropriate question would have been “human, gorilla, or space alien?”
Yeah shes worn those for years. And they looked bad back then. Nothing wrong with getting your use out of them but when theyre done theyre done.
Glamour wants women enslaved.
What has Chelsea Clinton ever accomplished?
