GuGu the panda strikes again: Attacks visitor who climbed into pen at Bejing Zoo

He may look cute and cuddly, but watch out - GuGu bites.
The 240 pound panda, a resident of the Beijing zoo, clamped down on the leg of a visitor who encroached on his territory to retrieve his child’s toy.
The victim, who climbed over a 5-foot barrier to get into the panda’s enclosure, needed surgery to repair damage to major ligaments after zookeepers managed to pry the bear’s jaws open.
It wasn’t the first time GuGu has shown his aggressive side to intruders who apparently found him irresistible.

He also ripped flesh from the legs of a teenager who climbed into his enclosure in October. In 2007, he attacked a drunken tourist who tried to hug him. The tourist defended himself by biting the panda back.
Officials at the Beijing Zoo are looking into measures to keep people out of GuGu’s area.
