I know, I know, I expected it. But, cursed with a totally corrupt and incompetent mayor in DeBlASSio, I was hoping that numerous allegations of corruption, paying for his legal representation with TAXPAYER money, letting the schools, the infrastructure, etc. go to absolute hell during his tenure, having a distinct rise in crime, literally sneaking homeless shelters into neighborhoods in the middle of the night, selling off prime real estate to developers who contribute to his campaign, etc. would be enough for NYC residents to put down their freakin' cell phones for once, pay attention enough to make themselves informed voters, and then go vote. But no, they couldn't be bothered to exercise that right which good men (and women) died to protect. Democracy only functions with an educated populace who will take the trouble to participate, and these complacent duds could not be bothered. I really unloaded on my neighbors for not voting, and the wife for not even registering to vote. I walked in the cold and rain to get to my polling place and proudly wore my "I Voted" sticker out. But to no avail. Four more years as a reward for utter corruption and incompetence. I just cannot believe it. I have nothing but contempt and anger for my fellow NYC residents who were too lazy and too uncaring to bring about positive changes for the rest of us.
Wish they would consider secession like Calif. Neither one is truly part of the USA these days other than a smattering of conservatives unable to escape.
That’s too much to hope for.
Normal, productive citizens MUST be made to pay the price of bad policy.
An Italian Republican with a clean message.
How NYC can re-elect this communist is disgusting.
The parks, subways and streets are full of homeless. Streets are filthy. Their buildings, for the most part, are antiquated....as in 60’s technology, at best.
The stench in streets and even in private business restrooms (restaurants/department stores/airports) is nauseating.
We recently visited two ‘blue’ cities that, by comparison, had spotless streets/buildings, modern and clean airports, updated and clean HISTORIC buildings, etc, etc. We also noticed a difference in the overall attitude and friendliness of the people in these other cities.
Giuliani and Bloomberg both won as Republicans.
Because NYC has plenty of Communists.
People get the government that they deserve.
I have often wondered about that so-called ‘marriage’.
In a democracy, the people get the elected representatives they deserve. The people of NYC have spoken, and re-elected the mayor most of them deserve.
I don’t think so anymore. I’m Italian from NY. Those of my family still alive are leaving soon or have already left. Are there still many there? Yeah, but NY has become a dumping ground for the nation’s freaks and kooks. To see what’s happening and somehow expect the old NY not to get outvoted on election day would be foolhardy.
Bloomberg then DeBlasio .... whip me, beat me, make it hurt ... NYC asks for it!!!!!
I despise DeBlasio!
I feel sorry for those of you in NYC who have to live with this idiot - like those of us in California who are stuck with the likes of idiots like Jerry Brown, whom I would never vote for even if he ran for dog catcher.
I grew up there and I’m so damn glad I moved the hell out. NYC is without question THE a-hole capital of the world now. This is a city made up of brain dead morons who love terror attacks, love a totally broken down transportation system, who adore extreme corruption in politics, who love throwing all their tax money away to foreign invaders, who love thugs and bash cops, who love getting the living effin crap taxed out of their paycheck, who love having a record setting amount of homeless. I’ve had it with that city with a passion, there is not enough money in the universe to ever make me go back there again. It is the toilet of the country from now on as far as I’m concerned. Let them all revel in their commie pig trough
I’ve talked with a few people who lived in NYC before and during the Giuliani administration. They saw all the positive changes he made and recently visited and have seen how it has started to return to the pre-Giuliani ways.
Go ahead, bite the Big Apple, don’t mind the maggots.
Bay Ridge, Staten Island, Bensonhurst, maybe.
I already abandoned NYC as lost decades ago.
Giuliani was a moderate Republican but left 16 years ago. He could not be elected mayor of NY today.
Bloomberg was once a Republican who became a Democrat on every issue, save perhaps taxes for Wall Street billionaires. Abortion, 2A, global warming, illegal immigration - he is further left on them than your average red state Democrat.
