How heroic locals exchanged gunfire with Texas shooter, ran him off the road as he tried to flee and shot him dead

-snip-

Texas Department of Public Safety Regional Director Freeman Martin said that the neighbor, who has not yet been named, had 'grabbed his rifle and engaged the suspect.'.

Martin said that during the gunfight, Kelley dropped his Ruger assault rifle and got back in his SUV to flee the scene.

But another local resident, Johnnie Langendorff, who had witnessed the confrontation refused to let the shooter get away. Both he and the unnamed neighbor jumped in his truck and gave chase.

In a Facebook post, Langendorff's girlfriend Summer Caddel described how the pair had 'jumped in my boyfriend's truck and they chased that sick b*****d down in pursuit until the cops could catch up. He was able to run the shooter off of the road on 539!'

Langendorff told KSAT 12 that he'd been speeding at 95mph, while on the phone to dispatch, while the neighbor kept his rifle trained on the gunman's car.

As they approached a sharp curve in the road, near the 307 and 539, he said Kelley appeared to lose control and his car swerved off the road.

'That's when I put the truck in park,' he said. 'The other gentleman jumped out, and had his rifle on him. He didn't move after that.'

Caddel added that Kelley was gunned down within a few feet from her boyfriend.

Martin confirmed that police had found Kelley dead, saying that: 'We are not sure if it was self inflicted or if he was shot by a local resident.'

Cops also found multiple weapons and possible explosives in the vehicle.

Ditto.

To amend your point, the tolerance for the unjust “turn out” is wearing thin in most parts of the Country.

"How was it that there was someone close by with a rifle or shotgun?"

* They said that the mystery man was across the street and saw Kelley attack the church members.

* The mystery man then fetched his rifle and fired upon Kelley (after Kelley exited the church?). There was reportedly a firefight between the two.

* Then, when Kelley (possibly wounded?) dropped his rifle and took off in his vehicle, the mystery man talked Langendorff into giving him a ride to go after Kelley.

Kelley ran off the road. The mystery man then exited Langendorff's vehicle to hold Kelley until police arrived.

Kelley was not a resident of the area of the church. He drove to get there from a suburb of San Antonio.

Our side has Lions. Lions. What does their side have? Pajama boy. Thats why we ultimately will win. And so ended the lesson.

Well, they did have Ted Kennedy -- he was known as "the loin of the Senate".

The Texan with the gun was not Johnny, but directed Johnny to follow the perp.

The man with the gun jumped in Johnny’s pick up and directed him. Johnny heroically obliged.

The man who fired the gun, ran the perp off, got Johnny to follow the perp, and held the gun on the perp (who probably bled out or committed suicide) until LE arrived.

This is according to Johnny.

The hero was the guy with the gun. We don’t even know his name.

Shows him fatter & with a beard ...

The later pic on FB had him without the beard ...

Hmm... Wonder why he shaved it off.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Devin Patrick Kelly was asked why he shaved off his beard on Oct. 31. His response “Long story.”

"Most people are hyped up on this story right now but when dust settles I hope that is the way it played out.

A lot of legal ramifications.
"

In an interview, the Texas Attorney General recounted the events as having played out that way, so it's pretty much a done deal. Texas Rangers said the same.

Let me clarify.

The hero with the gun who fired at the perp, got the perp on the run and jumped into Johhny’s pick up to follow the perp.

He is the hero, whose name we don’t yet know.

yup i realize that-
Johnny is also a hero because he followed the fella without regard for his own life- Most people wouldn’t have even got involved- Johnny did- He kept the police informed of where the perp was as well- so that the maggot wouldn’t have escaped if he was not already shot-

its texas, no chance the hero will face any charges,

http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/SOTWDocs/PE/htm/PE.9.htm

Sec. 9.33. DEFENSE OF THIRD PERSON. A person is justified in using force or deadly force against another to protect a third person if:

(1) under the circumstances as the actor reasonably believes them to be, the actor would be justified under Section 9.31 or 9.32 in using force or deadly force to protect himself against the unlawful force or unlawful deadly force he reasonably believes to be threatening the third person he seeks to protect; and

(2) the actor reasonably believes that his intervention is immediately necessary to protect the third person.

Report is that the hero gun owner lived across the street nearby the church, and actually heard the shots. He grabbed his weapon and ran to face off the perp.

Now we hear 90 rounds were fired by the perp. No mistaking something was going on if you heard that.

Been arming for church for 7 years. If you’re going to get a concealed carry license you understand it is not for the purpose of leaving your weapon at home. Not under any circumstances.
